Years ago, she wrote about her opposition to Apartheid.

I also grew up white and privileged in Apartheid South Africa. Don't make such assumptions.

But the answer to your question wouldn't mean much. Not having the courage to object when it was dangerous wouldn't mean that she supported Apartheid.

We left the country, instead. Many others did the same. Some couldn't leave.

Some Germans were indeed good but feared to speak up.

And people were waking up to how insane the church was and how much they were getting screwed by it. So I wouldn't mind if we had another period like that!

after her attack. I don’t know what else may have happened around that time or in the interim but I see that as a key event in her shifted worldview.
