(22,264 posts)Interestingly, no one ever has an answer for that.
They get the deer in the headlights look.
This was especially common about 6 months into the TFG administration

(3,148 posts)One guy, I worked with before the election brought her up. It took me less than ten minutes to go from Bengazi too "I'm not going to stay home and bake cookies". For him to just admit he didn't like a powerful woman. As I debunked or showed the lies about her are just that lies.

(16,412 posts)No joke, I heard comments like that in 2016. Not at DU (I wasn't hanging out here then), but in other online communities I frequented.
These comments usually came up as responses to criticism of TFG's attitudes toward women. The argument was that her supposed mistreatment of Bill's cheating partners showed that she didn't genuinely care about women's rights. I guess that was supposed to somehow cancel out Trump's very public misogyny. Or something.
That, and other experiences I had with Hillary haters that year, convinced me that a lot of the people who disliked her so much didn't have a real reason. They just hated her because they hated her, and all their excuses for doing so sounded like grasping at straws. Like they knew they should have an actual reason for hating her, so they rummaged around in the Big Bag of Bad Things Alleged about Hillary Over the Years till they found something they could use to bolster their hate.
I didn't understand it then, and I definitely don't understand it now.

(25,537 posts)and power, warmongering, corruption. They couldn't possibly vote for such a monster. Like, their conscience.
Well, why isn't such a horrible person draped in diamonds and furs (extinct species, of course) on one of her many yachts sipping champagne and nibbling fancy elite canapés in cigar-smoke-filled back rooms plotting to destroy democracy and start lots of wars to kill everybody, laughing at poverty and inequality, conspiring with establishment oligarchs and billionaires and the DNC to stop at nothing to defeat progressives while rolling around in large sized piles of cash from wealthy donors? I mean, that's what we were told.
Why is Hillary "Satan" Clinton giving a speech (OH MY GOD WAS IT A PAID SPEECH BECAUSE THAT IS EVIL -- SHE IS HIDING HER TAKEOVER OF THE WORLD WITH TEH OLIGARCHS OF WALL STREET -- "It must be a fantastic speech, a brilliant speech which you would want to share with the American people. It must be Shakespearean!" )? Human rights, civil rights, women's rights? What? It's as if she's spent her whole career fighting for these things and we were told she didn't and only thinks about money. Who would lie about Hillary like that?

Still painful to think about.
