(21,486 posts)Never give up, not even if they do manage to grab hold of the government. People in other nations have faced terrible odds in terrible situations and have fought back.
Never stop fighting.

(2,593 posts)We, as in Dems, are too polite at times we should not be. As others have pointed out, we need to copy the messaging technique, not the message.

(3,395 posts)Democrats must be the most optimistic people on earth, we are always waiting for the Democrats to fight hard to remove all republican criminal actions...we keep waiting...
By now Biden should have added judges to the Supreme Court, and so many things.

(21,486 posts)"...we are always waiting for the Democrats to fight hard..."
We ARE "the Democrats." We do not have to sit passively waiting for "them" to do something.
Ask not what your party can do for you. Ask what you can do for your party.
What talents ot skills can you bring to the fight? Art? Music? Writing? Debating? Attending local party meetings? Local council and school board meetings? Letter writing to representatives? Phone calls? Donations of time or money to good candidates and good causes?
A quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
You could substitute other words in that quote for the word "inferior," like "hopeless."

(11,316 posts)in order to have any chance to prevail. The simple answer is, "Nope."
Hardball politics - hard nosed negotiations and results - hard eyed looks at what is achievable, and what is not .... I can countenance a lot of 'tough guy' approach, and 'hands dirty' method - but when you're advocating that we become a mirror image of our opponent ....
Why - - so I can become a cult member myself?

(21,132 posts)Punish it would be a good follow-up. Stop throwing olive branches at the people shooting arrows might also be a consideration.
Or to sum it all up, I would like to see Democrats move the agenda with the facts as well as the GOP does with lies.
After 35 years of cowering in a corner, I've kind of had enough.

(36,309 posts)I disagree and point to Nancy Pelosi who is tough and dishes it out. Biden is like Obama. Staying above the fray and being classy. I don't see him as a street fighter anyways. My own Gov. Whitmer isn't afraid of a fight.

(82,383 posts)the only way to win is either to take over the media and use it in the same biased way, or try to get people to be more intelligent and not just follow the media pundits' instructions on how to see things.

(2,399 posts)At some point we....Dems/Progressives/sane people... need to hire some really clever people to make ads that attack the Qpublicans with their own words.
There is a youtube video that consists of 4 minutes of trump playing down the Covid virus. As we approach one million dead Americans by the end of February.... 15 million worldwide (IHME numbers-crunchers)... perhaps some media company could put together those numbers, trump's comments, and the fact that 85+% of Repubs approve of trump. Keep it short and deadly. 10-20 seconds. And repeat it constantly.
And then there's all the dumbshit things that MTG and Boebert and Jordan and the rest are constantly coming up with. Fodder.
And then there's the abortion thing. Short, deadly Teevee ads supporting - not abortion - but choice.
Shit... The writers on Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show could make a better product than the ads I've seen.
That's not playing dirty...it's not even fighting. That's simply telling it like it is.

(25,537 posts)Why would anyone think Democrats don't fight? What do they expect them to do? They're legislators, not revolutionaries, protestors, activists. People can still do that populist revolution thing. What are they waiting for, why so polite? Get out there and rally.
The whole history of the party is fighting for equality and rights. "Lost every important fight"?
What the hell is the point of this?
