“The Covid-19 virus is spreading faster than ever in South Africa, the country’s president said Monday, an indication of how the new Omicron variant is driving the pandemic, but there are early indications that Omicron may cause less serious illness than other forms of the virus,” the New York Times reports.

1. So hospitals are finding people coming in with anything else that ails them. Then the hospitals

administer a routine Covid test and then everyone finds out they have the new version?

Then they report mild or no symptoms and life mostly carries on?

Hoping that research is repeatedly confirmed by scientists not on Facebook.

The faster spread means it could crowd out the more deadly variants.

We need to see data though on what it does to different populations, the elderly, the high-risk vaccinated people, etc.
