CNN panel addresses trust in the network after firing Cuomo
HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TND) As additional information surfaces about CNNs newly-fired primetime anchor Chris Cuomo, questions are being raised about the trustworthiness of the outlet that could face an onslaught of lawsuits.
Early last week, Cuomo was suspended after messages and testimony were released by the New York attorney general showing he tried to help his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, avert sexual harassment accusations that eventually led to his resignation. He emailed one of his older brothers aides that he had a lead on the wedding girl, referring to a woman saying in the news that she was uncomfortable with how the governor touched her at a wedding. He also contacted other journalists to monitor for more women stepping forward, according to the documents.
The network fired their primetime reporter days later, and stated, While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.
Cuomo said he was just trying to help his brother, and that he never attacked nor encouraged anyone to attack any woman who came forward.
