I am a proud progressive and I am tired of trying to be nice to these jackasses. I am becoming much more bold in speaking out. I live in central Pa, which is a red area. Trump flags are everywhere as are Confederate ones. They proudly put "Fuck Biden" bumper stickers on their cars. But I have been told by liberal friends not to put liberal stickers on my car for fear of vandalism. If they can be in your face why can't I? They want to rule by intimidation but I say no!
Just the other day I was driving through a shopping center parking lot when I saw a skin-head looking guy come out of a store and he was wearing a black shirt that had an image of an AR15 on it with the words, "I oil my gun with the blood of liberals" under it. He wore that offense shirt proudly! I was very tempted to stop my car and call him a fascist prick to his face but I didn't want to possibly get involved in a brawl. But I was really pissed. Maybe I will get a shirt that says, "Republicans suck ass!"and wear it proudly around town! See how they like it!

11. I do not think its possible to keep the government, so we will have to band together in other ways.

Our representatives will not expand the Court, will not end the fillibuster, so its pretty much over. MAGAs have taken over the courts and the election boards. They have redistricted. The young do not vote in large enough numbers. So right wing minority rule is coming in 2022 and will be here for at least a generation.

Our only choice is to do what we can to work as progressives and get around their mandates. A well funded network to help women get transported to blue areas for reproductive care, fund private progressive education for kids without the book bans and religious stuff thats coming as MAGAs have taken the school boards of public schools, send kids to progressive colleges in blue areas, keep growing the economic progressive hubs for high tech in the suburban metro areas.

The MAGAs are going to have the government and courts, so we will have to limit their effects on as many progressives as we can. Sadly our current leaders are not willing to take the drastic steps needed to prevent what is coming in Nov 2022. Once they get the House, any chance of doing a thing is long gone.

It would be FAR more impressive if someone could organize an effort for everyone to write a letter to them.
It would be more of a glaring example, if two or three hundred thousand letters were to be dumped on their office doorstep one morning by the USPS......It would make major media news and have a dramatic effect....The Senator, Dem or Repub would have to go in front of the press and explain their position........

So I didn't really have time to study up on local elections, and the ballots don't list 'R' or 'D'' next to the names of many local candidates. But I had next door neighbors who WERE up on the local elections, and I knew them to be solid Dems. So I always studied their yard signs before going to the polls.
We have moved, and I am retired now. Maybe its MY turn to be the informed Democratic neighbor!

What does "fighting" mean, exactly? Getting really red-faced angry and throwing a fit might work in a rare circumstance, but it's likely to backfire in most.

Letters to editors, stickers on cars, signs in yards - yes. It's meaningful to show the wingnuts that they are not the majority. It takes some courage though, considering their violent tendencies.

Absolutely, talking to people matters. The Republicans I knew have become Democrats, or don't talk to me anymore. There is nothing that would keep me from voting, from getting out the vote, or from helping other campaigns in other states.

It's just that the "in your face ain't-backing up spit in your eye PISSED OFF" machismo thing doesn't work for everyone. I'd look comical even trying that. (If the goal is to get people to split their sides from hysterical laughter, I could be a soldier in that army.)
