January 6, 2021 is a day which should live in infamy. (Original Post) raccoon Dec 2021 OP
100% should live in infamy. For a majority of Americans, it does, I think. . . nt Bernardo de La Paz Dec 2021 #1

Democrats like us care about January 6th...not sure anyone else does.

Unless we start being aggressive and uncover every detail leading up to and shortly after! Make it happen.

That means Democrats will need to write the history books and control the curriculum. Republicans are busy rewriting our whole history to glorify white people, who have never done one wrong thing throughout our generations of existence as a country! Republicans want us all to live in la la land, or as Garrison Keillor put it: “Welcome to Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." I would add the word “white” before “women,” “men,” and “children” to better fit the Republican philosophy.

as a nexus in which many woke up to the fact of just how fractured (and ugly and dangerous) our seemingly stable democracy had become. History is remembered in broad strokes - so it's debatable whether Jan 6th will be accorded Pearl Harbor status - but it will be pretty hard to push it back into the shadows as just another citizen's 'march.'

the general public never cared, it never seared its way into the imaginations of the general public the way it did here.

With scenes like the moron in horns on the House floor and that smiling idiot waving as he walked out with the speaker's lectern, a huge chunk of America thought it was funny and not terrifying

Outside of politically engaged democrats, no one cares anymore. The way they see it, Trump is out of office, some morons are going to jail or losing their jobs - its over. Besides college basketball season is starting up, lets pay attention to that instead...

It must be your go to line. All debate revolves around 1/6. Forever.

in infamy. The cable channels and networks should remember that day this coming January 6, 2022. Every year they remember 9/11, and as far as I’m concerned 1/6 is something this country should remember as well-the day we came close to losing our democracy. We are still fighting to save it.

It's really just around the corner. I'm sure the other side will want to celebrate their big day. We need to counter that with something more serious.

Roosevelt and appoint a dictator...Most of the financiers of the time were involved one way or another...the man picked to be 'president' who had a good rapport with the troops Was General Smedly Butler...a Marine. Who promptly ratted out the conspirators to Congress. Congress held hearings but no one was arrested or punished.

Now our situation is a bit different. And we know what happened. But knowing and proving in a court of law are two different things. Also, it is unlikely a jury would ever convict Trump anywhere. There will always be one Trumper. I give thanks for Trumps age...he won't be around much longer thankfully. I think our best not great options are to go after him in the states...that has the best chance but may not work either. The worst thing for us is to try Trump and have him acquitted which could easily happen.
