and TFG has been his tool.
Thinking about this after watching The Comey Rule the other day. The FBI analysts determined that Russia's goal was to create deep divisions in the USA. They made that assessment even before Fiona Hill testified about it during TFG's first impeachment hearing.
My sister says that every time we make an issue into "Republican vs. Democrat" we play right into the hands of both Putin and the wealthy ruling class here in the USA.
The tricky part is, when trying to convince working-class Republicans to join us in supporting any idea that might actually help the working class (and therefore the economy) we're not dealing with classic conservatism. We're dealing with Trumpists--they believe his lies. They are incapable of seeing anything that TFG opposes as helpful to THEM, (frankly, to all of us).

racist/sexist/proud to be stupid feel good about themselves and they got to "stick it to the libs" too.
What kind of fool believes this kind of crap?

(38,560 posts)some working-class conservatives believe, sincerely believe, that they will some day get to be a part of the wealthy-ruling class.
The truth is that the system is rigged against them.
They'll never get there without changes in the system. But if the system changes, they won't enjoy the benefits of "privilege" they long for.

(38,560 posts)How much of the bigotry is white, straight, Christian, men... (etc) playing by the rules and getting nowhere... and finding scapegoats for their lack of progress?
I guess the point is (or MY point is) that the ruling wealthy class will keep the rest of us down (and stoke their advantage) until we can find a way to frame the argument as haves vs. have-nots, instead of Dems vs. the GOP.
It's just hard to convince the GOP of this because they all think that some day, with all their hard work, they'll get to be part of the ruling class.

(89,252 posts)Republicans that openly support them over and over again ever since the civil rights laws passed. It's just a coincidence that they started voting republican once civil rights passed ?
They voted for Openly pro corporate Republicans like that fool in Wisconsin against Russ Feingold with a record of supporting the working class and Ted STrickland with same record .

(38,560 posts)They don't want to change the rules for the ruling/wealthy class, because they want those rules in place when they get there.
(But I will concede that there are those who absolutely do not want people of color, women, non-Christians, and non-heterosexuals to be part of the ruling/wealthy class. If the ruling class becomes inclusive, they will lose their sense of "i'm better than them." )
