That is the bottom line.
No matter how much they try to portray it as something else or to paint a different narrative, it is what it is.
They can try to minimize it. They can make jokes about it. They can say it was just a rally that got a little out of hand. But the people that feared for their lives on that day do not think it was a joke.
It was planned. There was a war-room to strategize their movements. It was a traitorous act against our country.
That is what they do not want to confess to.
They can't. They are in deep denial.

(8,200 posts)If I was suspected of something illegal all I could hope for it that the DOJ is handling it. After ten years of investigation, numerous hearings the charges would be dropped due to reaching the limit for prosecution. Do we actually have to pay these jokers or is this so- called service free? They have had far enough to go after Trump and his stinking family and if it wasn't for the New York prosecutors nothing substantial would be happening. So far the only that thing I am aware of is that they have had to do was to refund a portion of the money they stole from their scam charities.

(100,080 posts)They had help from the inside. There were people in Congress helping the terrorists attempt to find the hiding members of Congress. They used ziplines and smoke grenades, and had makeshift gallows erected.
And they are trying to spin it as an "ordinary tourist visit", and "look at Trump's crowd size!!!". They must pay. Sorry but what tourist visit ends with them throwing feces on the walls, using Congressional offices as toilets, erecting makeshift gallows and them screaming about wanting to hang their own sitting vice president? It's truly insane.

(11,684 posts)They take over by "winning" another way!
They will rely on the most corrupt elections in the future: gerrymandering, voter suppression, and overturning elections. They have put in place the most substantial anti-electoral play imaginable. They will be getting "wins" by illegal anti-Constitutional means that rivals anything in the history of this country. They are, in a large-scale effort, determined never to lose another election.

(43,182 posts)we are left with competing narratives of fascism leading paranoid hysteria vs Democrats for the middle class. You can decide which one motivates more voters, is more exciting, and wins elections. Maybe democracy needs to be melded to the Republic for which it stands, Cheney-style, in order to defeat fascism. Trouble is, that Republic is none too visible right now, and is very luke warm toward Democrats.

(11,684 posts)People misinterpret the saying: The road to hell is paved with good intentions
They seem to believe that if you try to do good, doing it for what is evidently the best, it will always turn into some mess of wicked failure. I don't know if others have heard this misinterpretation but I have heard it enough to begin to rebut it.
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions," means that it is not enough to simply mean to do well, one must take action to do well. A good intention is meaningless unless it is followed by good action.
Dems are mindful of doing good for all, or as many as possible, while the opposition sees the use of their followers as dupes, pawns, and foot soldiers to maintain power.
