The structure suggests these investors are interested in selling very quickly, taking advantage of retail investors willing to pay inflated prices
8. One of these investors is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA).
She invested 15-50K in the company in October and has already lost at least half her money and maybe a lot more!
She bought her stock at a price between $70 and $175 per share.
Karmic justice, or just inevitability?

(19,201 posts)who is even crazier than me, bought one of those patches and had it sewn onto a jacket made of some shiny, space age looking metallic fabric.
He's so proud of it, wears it often, and gets many comments about it, both pro and con. My brother is 6' 5" tall, weighs in at about 250 lbs. He used to be a championship caliber power lifter, so no one gets in his face about it.
Not something I would do, but he's 18 years younger than myself and can get away with it.

Funny I thought the market sets the price per share. If you are buying shares of a stock before it is
publicly traded you are an idiot.

(11,738 posts)I think that Pelosi set that up to make sure they felt it. There may also be a provision stating that they cannot make up those funds using donations.

(33,643 posts)I'm sure most of the people investing (maybe not her, because she's a moron) realize they're paying a tribute with little chance of a monetary return, but they feel the gesture itself is more important than the loss of the money.
I mean ... how anyone (aside from the absolute stupidest of people in the world) could POSSIBLY not realize that IQ45 is a conman above all else at this point is pretty unfathomable, right?

My expectation is that he will go to jail before 2024, all that investment will be mute, and I don't think that "company" will ever get off the ground, the buffoon wants that money to pay some of his debts.

(20,202 posts)It's DWAC - Digital World Acquisition Corporation. It traded at $10, then shot to $94 on October 21st and has been going downhill since. It sounds like she bought it at near peak l. Today it's around $48. Unless she knows how to short stocks, she's lost her shirt.

(101,321 posts)(CNN)The shell company that is facilitating former President Donald Trump's return to Wall Street disclosed Monday that federal regulators are investigating the deal.
In October, Trump announced a new media venture that would "stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech." That new entity, chaired by the former president, agreed to go public through a merger with Digital World, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company, or SPAC.
In a filing Monday, Digital World Acquisition Corp. said it received a document and information request from the Securities and Exchange Commission in early November. Among other items, Digital World said the SEC request sought documents and communications between Digital World and Trump Media and Technology Group.
...
Despite the regulatory scrutiny and the fact that Trump Media & Technology Group has not actually launched a product, the venture announced Saturday it reached a deal to raise $1 billion upon completion of its SPAC agreement.

(4,845 posts)I mean, this is the tech bubble all over again with many tech startups that has no real product trading on stock market. Of course, this is just one company so it wouldn't be as big a bubble as it was. I guess people just don't learn from the past.
