So... The weird part about the Nunes story...

TFG wants him to be CEO of his new company? WTF? I get Nunes retiring, he would lose anyway with the redistricting but why would TFG want him for CEO? He has zero experience... He knows nothing about tech, nothing about being a CEO... Nothing about any of it. I suspect that whole part of the story is bullshit and simply Nunes trying to put out feelers to apply for the job. I hope TFG falls for it though, Nunes would tank the company in the fastest way possible.

I don't think he has any understanding of the entire concept.

In his mind, if anyone does anything, they do it for themselves.

Ergo, conveniently, he can never owe a debt of this nature to anyone.

Extortion, however ... THAT he would understand.

Intimately.

Back in the 90s with his eagerness to join the NY elites. Putin and Kim when he became president. Those are the only people he called and wanted to be "friends" with. Nunes is not in that league.

It's always the creditor or funder that has to pay up. Trump comes out better with each company bankruptcy because he took good pay and grifted the cash flow from the company.

That doesn't make him a good businessman because he's lost the money elsewhere. But he was able to avoid being "totally broke" by having these grifts and his reality tv personality work. At least, his cult follower still thinks he is "great businessman". He wouldn't have done that if he was flat broke and on the street where he belong.

His Trump casino was a clear example for that. He overpaid so much for the casino but he was able to create a sense that he was making it big as a casino owner and in turn got a lot of funding to back him up. He made good salary while sucking the casino dry and then went bankrupt.

It's a scam typical of Trump's business model: start a business, borrow and fundraise as uch as you can, pay himself, declare bancruptcy.

I would guess Nunes will not see a penny of it.

"SNIP.......

More currently, Trump’s venture into a media company is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The announcement that Trump Media and Technology group would merge with Digital World, a special purpose acquisition company (known as a SPAC), sent shares of Digital World up by as much as 1,657%, according to CNN Business (that number is not a typo). Little is known about Trump’s venture, and so far it hasn’t produced anything; it missed the November date by which it claimed it would release a preliminary product.

Representative Devin Nunes (R-CA) announced today he is retiring from Congress at the end of December to run Trump’s new media company. Nunes has been a staunch Trump loyalist. In California’s redistricting after the recent census meant it would lose a congressional seat, Nunes’s district was reshaped, making winning reelection look like an uphill battle. Announcing the deal, Trump called Nunes “a fighter and a leader…[who] understands that we must stop the liberal media and Big Tech from destroying the freedoms that make America great.” But that Nunes is going to work for Trump’s apparently dormant company suggests he does not have a lot of options.

.....SNIP"

The investors aren't trying to make money, they are trying to buy TFG's attention and good will and influence with the GQP. The company won't be trying to make money, as a company. It will be trying to make money for TFG as a person even to the company's detriment. The company will eventually go kaput and people other than TFG will be left out in the cold -- though some of them won't be crying about it because their "investment" bought them something other than shares of the company. Nunes has proven himself loyal, so he's allowed a fancy title and a cut of the take.

but any time possible after putting Republicans in control of congress in 2022. Or control from outside should he decide he'd like that better.

tRump is the power center of the right, including of the Republican Party. He must have a way of communicating with America, not just to promote himself but to continue his control of the Republican Party and pack state and federal governments with tRump traitors. And to mobilize people to the polls, and potentially the streets.

Trump must control this media tool in all ways, with no constraints on his use of it or what he says. If he had to step back for any reason, it could still be used as a tool of huge power to elect his and/or Nunes' and company's choices.

Given that reality, the only thing that makes sense to me is that Nunes isn't stepping down from power, he's stepping up to the seat of power to use media to create, and take, far more.

Someone competent to develop and handle great power (if they succeed) has to haul Trump Media back onto the road and into gear. Nunes' very quick departure from congress suggests too much time's already been wasted. November 8.

…we started finding out who said what in the run up to and on 1/6.

There are Reps whose communications we haven’t heard as yet—this being the trailer/teaser phase and the meatier hearing phase presaged by Cheney in early 2022 being the “movie” as it were.

I think Nunes—who may have been 45’s worst sycophant with his running to him with every bit of news from the Intel Committee—may have gotten hip that HIS communications, against his mightiest attempts to hide them have been exposed.

There’s nowhere else to go. Faux News wouldn’t take him as they’re caught up too.

He went where the quick money was. And may also have been enticed by 45 threatening to put it “all on him” if he even remotely cooperated to save his own skin. Take a check. Cozy up. Take a vow of Omertà.
