"SNIP.....
Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) is planning to vote for a Republican resolution to nullify President Bidens vaccine mandate for large employers, The Hill reports.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said last week that he would do so as well.

(3,492 posts)I guess because of how idiotic his state is in general he has to do this but its bad for the country.

(86,646 posts)Still have timber and cattle, a few businesses are kind of big but it's more that he needs to, also, keep in good stead with the non-Democrats who vote for him. Right now, he's the only sane one we've got in DC or the Gov's mansion.

(10,129 posts)Dennis Washington is still in Missoula I suppose - The Washington Companies are pretty big. Although they are really spread out.

(86,646 posts)Going on in big business interests here than one might imagine. There's Delaware North, a big business that operates a lot of the tourism industry here. A lot of the cattle operations are corporate owned as well.

Vax of you want, no mandate.
If they stand somewhere in the middle of both warring sides, their job may survive.

(42,641 posts)with fewer people than Chicago. It is remote, generally unsuitable for development, and not very crowded.
So, what works for Montana and Alaska is meaningless for where 99% of the population lives.

(65,076 posts)The whole state has around 40% of the people of Chicago.

(42,641 posts)He might be jealous of Manchin and Sinema.

(43,408 posts)Montana population in 2021 is expected to be 1.09 million
so the Chicago area pop is almost 10 times the size

(23,322 posts)I know Jon is trying to keep his job and prevent our whole fucking state from going to the dark side. MT gained an additional Congressional seat with our population tipping just over the 1 million mark and Ryan "the crook" Zinke is running for it so we have that to worry about too. We need to keep Jon Tester in the Senate. He is nothing like Manchin or Sinema. He's was all for the infrastructure bill and BBB. He can't be painted with the same broad brush.

(111,103 posts)He is in a tough state to defend the progressive agenda all the time. He has to agree with his majority some times.

(16,846 posts)But it sucks. I hate to see Biden lose one. Biden had to try, though, even if the effort was doomed.

(24,414 posts)And then Biden would have to sign it? Its not going anywhere. Seems totally symbolic?

(33,345 posts)the mandates were probably overreach. certainly they were a broad interpretation of regulations. but he had to do something to move the needle (pun intended).
