none of it really makes sense to smart, decent people. I am losing the ability to even react to the madness.

My overriding feeling - we are in some sort of weird, post-truth, post-fact, post-empathy, post-decency period that is incredibly dangerous. Nearly half of the country feels like that science, facts, truth no longer apply to them - don't matter. They have a 2 year old mentality of "I don't like this, so I am going to do or believe that".

That's all the words I have about it for today. It creates an overall numbness, doesn't it?

And the media is, overall, just delighted with it. It is as if they individually don't have to live in this country - they are in a bizarre bubble of dollars only.

1. Republican owned media pays their news talkers very well.

They don't give a fuck. They hurt us with their words and hurt us more with their silence.

2. I was thinking along the same lines yesterday....

Conservative America is like a bunch of petulant three year-olds where Tucker acts like a parent that reenforces their bad behavior whenever they throw a temper tantrum.

They watch Tucker because Tucker tells them they are right. They voted for Trump because he is a con man and the #1 skill of a con man is telling the mark what they want to hear.

3. The war is the anti-government wealthiest against everyone else, and those wealthiest

own everything, the media and control of the internet, food supply, energy and enough of our elected to control everything now.

It will take a massive event of accountability and reconciliation if there is to be any chance of continuing under our current U.S. Constitution which was put under open attack by the now anti-democratic Republicans beginning in 1981.
That 8 years finished with what was labeled, Star Wars Defense and what was, the deployment of the listening stations and satellites for the data collection project.

And the number one goal of that 1% right now is the use of AI and the internet for mass and individual population control.

It has become very obvious the media has a conservative slant for decades, Fox was for a special audience, but there was nothing liberal about the others and the monopolization has been accomplished in messaging along with the ownership.

4. I feel these MAGA adherents believe true progressive change

is too difficult. Easier to operate from id, hate. Serious consideration and planning (climate crisis, anyone?), is too hard.

What also has occurred to me is that by consistently and repeatedly beating down the middle class, keeping them defeated, broke, exhausted, leads to their anger, which Rs are poised at every turn to stoke and redirect to minorities, immigrants, women.

Yes, we are being attacked. We can fight back or hide. It's time for adults to confront the truth, abandon the default quest for temporary comfort, and fight back.

7. I blame the internet, esp. social media and "alternative news" sites.

Got in a text message argument with my sister. While visiting with her she dropped 2 bombshell “revelations” on me. According to her “sources” over 600 children have died after getting vaccinated (according to CDC, no less), and dozens of professional athletes have dropped dead during games, also related to vaccines.

Well, as soon as I got home I started looking into these claims. Nowhere could I find ANY story about children dying from the vaccine, and in fact the CDC website had numerous articles on vaccine side effects, including myocardial reactions, but assuring that these are rare, and even more rarely fatal.

The story about athletes? More disinformation from FB; a video circulating making these claims. Problem? Many of the athletes mentioned were UNvaccinated, and many more actually recovered and did not die, as the video suggested.

So I texted this to her, and she immediately sends a link to Dr. Mercola’s blog posts about miscarriages being way up in 2 Canadian hospitals/areas. 5 minutes of googling revealed right away that it was another hoax, no such news had been reported, except by 2 discredited doctors at rabid anti-vax rallies.

So I send this to her. Her response? “Well, you have your news sources and I have mine…”????

Just infuriating!

8. That is the frustration

The right now has a media ecosystem to feed the propaganda. And everyone else is "fake news".
