Select committee subpoenas are meaningless

I am paraphrasing Reps Eric Swalwell and Ted Lieu who were just on Lawrence O'Donnell.

The main point was that the DC courts, whether wittingly or unwittingly are aiding the traitors to delay testifying. The Steve Bannon trial should take 1 day. (not my opinion) Laurence Tribe claims the latest frivolous law suit filed against Speaker Pelosi and the committee will take weeks or months before the DC court dismisses it. The court could look at the suit and dismiss it in 1 day. (not my opinion)

Reps. Swalwell and Lieu want to use inherent contempt and fine people who refuse to honor subpoenas $10,000.00 per day.

Noted in the segment tonight was the example of how it took 2 years to get Don McGahn to testify for a subpoena, which was too late for the 2020 election.

Swalwell and Lieu praised the work of the select committee but the traitors are winning out in the DC court.

Lawrence, Eric, and Ted all agreed that people do not understand how serious the situation is.

Hey, be happy, Congress will soon be on Christmas break.

Great segment by Lawrence. (my opinion)

But when Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress... they had no means of enforcement, no way to jail him or much of anything else.

Keeping in mind that power rotates between the parties, how much power do you want to give the 2023 US Congress?

I'm always nervous when people talk about "No Executive Privilege for former POTUS" and "Give Congressional subpoena and contempt teeth"...

What happens when the next GOP President wants Obama or Biden records for a fishing expedition? What happens when a GOP House holds a Biden official in Contempt and jails them?

Filibuster? Might be the best thing in the world in January 2023... just imagine of McConnell had trashed the filibuster as Trump had asked him to do in 2017...

These things always come around full circle...

there are more fascists in law enforcement than we realize, there are more fascists in the courts than we realize, there are more fascists in the military than we realize. We all should realize that the Supreme Court is fascist.

The average American isn't as interested and engaged in politics as we are, or even the freak show on the right. Doesn't matter which way they lean. It's just "I don't give a fuck.", and "Both parties are the same." and "Why should I vote? It doesn't matter." The latter 2 do wonders for the gop/freak show on the right. How many people vote for the name on their neighbor's yard sign, not even knowing who, or what, they're voting for? How many spouses blindly go along with the other half? Dems know who they want. The far right knows who they want.

If everyone got engaged, and paid attention, and made the smart choices, this nation would look very different, and for the better. This would create the demand for better candidates, who actually want to serve the people of this nation.

the 72 year old Publix grocery store heiress. She loves the Infowars guy, Alex Jones, she gave a total of $650,000.00 to fund the coup attempt.

Of course she didn't realize what her money would be used for so no use of even questioning her, besides there is a separate branch of justice for the rich.

Jenkins Fancelli donated 650k for the legal and permitted RALLY at the Ellipse on January 6.

Is there evidence that her money funded the assault on the Capitol that occurred before, during and after the Rally?

She gave money to 3 different groups. Of course she gave her money legally, there is no way to prove that just because she paid for transportation or lodging for attendees she had no idea she was funding traitors.

This isn't the first time she has given money to far right people. I mean just because Alex Jones convinced her to give money who would ever suspect that Mr. Jones would be involved in anything shady?

300k to Women for Trump, the legal and permitted organizers of the Rally at the Ellipse.

150k to The Rule of Law Defense Fund, a nonprofit component of the Republican Attorneys General Association, organized the robocalls, the Washington Post reported.

200k to State Tea Party Express

THIS is where it gets interesting.

If you can find evidence and connections between the legal and permitted activities and the Capitol attack... you've got MAJOR criminal charges to file.

I'm interested in reading what the Committee finds... like the Proud Boys... they left the Rally an HOUR before Trump spoke to march to the Capitol. Was that planned? Planned with input from who?

People commonly confuse the legal and permitted actions of 1/6 with the attack itself. The "Jackpot" is finding the link between the two.

I'm sure she is a sweet little lady who was radicalized by people like Alex Jones. Her family members tried to dissuade her from getting involved with the far right traitors.

She is on record giving money to other far right people.

Most likely nothing illegal. I'm sure that Alex Jones sweet talked her on their phone conversation.

1. Now that you've described the problem, what is the solution?

2. Is there anything that ordinary citizens can do, or are we doomed to be handwringing spectators to our own demise?
