There was a point, earlier on in the pandemic, when vaccines were still scarce, when I tried to be tolerant with the holdouts, tried not to shame them, tried not to be angry with them, tried to allow them time to educate themselves about the benefits of getting vaccinated.
But that time has long since passed for me. Call me one of the intolerant. Thats what I am. I will not coddle willful ignorance anymore. I will not indulge the fools errand of Im still doing my own research anymore, either.

So yes, I am furious at the unvaccinated, and I am not ashamed of disclosing that. I am no longer trying to understand them or educate them. Barriers to access have fallen. The only reason for remaining unvaccinated that I now accept is from people who have medical conditions that prevent it.
All others have a choice to either be part of the solution or part of the problem. The unvaccinated are choosing to be part of the problem.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. My sister chided me the other day when I said that I was angry about unvaccinated people. She wouldn't get mad she'd just avoid them. Well, I get angry and have lost all tolerance with anti-vaxxers.

(29,215 posts)100 percent lethal to the unvaccinated. And much faster acting so they don't run up a huge hospital bill before they die.
Time to thin the herd.

Covid vaccination should be mandatory IMO.

(32,026 posts)Pediatric nurse of 17 years was interviewed by local news. She was upset about the vaccination mandate for healthcare workers at our local hospital (which has since been cancelled, much to my disappointment)
Her reason? Claiming religious exemption. She did not name a specific religion. Religious as in I shouldnt have anything forced into my body. The hospital had refused her religious exemption claim. Said she had no choice but to quit her job over this. Theyre losing a valuable nurse, so the hospital should feel bad about this, not me.

(43,237 posts)Seriously, I'm totally with you. Just strengthen the gene pool already. I have absolutely no tolerance for them. And if you get Covid and are unvaccinated, the hospital should refuse to treat you. Bunch of selfish pricks.

Replacing it with some bullshit "honor system" when they knew about Delta! This gave everyone the false sense that the vaccine would prevent transmission and/or illness, which in turn gave vax hesitant and anti-vaxxers more fuel to dig in

(55,147 posts)To add insult to injury, I live in S.W. Florida, few like-minded people here to boot, I don't even get snow. I am really beginning to hate the holidays.

(45,474 posts)Delta is still raging hard in many states this winter and mostly hospitalizing unvaccinated people. Vaccinated people are much less likely to need the ventilator or die. So any adult who is still unvaccinated by choice at this point can pay the ultimate price of freedom. Bye

(27,817 posts)But all the barriers have not fallen. I live in Seattle, a highly vaccinated city, and I am having trouble finding a booster. Here's the rub - I can't drive to an appointment. We have one car and my partner needs it to get to work. So I have to walk or bus.
I walked into two pharmacies. Neither will take walk ups. One gave me a number to call. I waited on the phone for almost 40 minutes.
They had a pop up clinic near my apartment but did not announce it till that day and I didn't find out till it was over.
The nearest I could find was Everett, over an hour each way by transit, if I can figure it out.
Apparently there are walk ins available at obscure little places around town, all of which are more than an hour each way. And they have cut many local buses in favor of light rail so it's difficult to get around the city now.
All this to say is that yes, everyone should get the vaccine. But I had trouble getting a nearby appointment last time and again now. I have an appointment next week for a booster. In San Juan county, not in my neighborhood which has five pharmacies I can walk to and no appointments at any of them.

(3,576 posts)But it seems like they do have the vaccine available.
Catch the bus or train from Seattle to Tacoma. Just a thought. Good luck.

(27,817 posts)I am trying to emphasize that it's not easy for everyone. Tacoma! That's a long drive, much less on transit that I am not familiar with.
Anyway, going to an entirely different city means it's not that easy for everyone. I got a booster appointment in another city. It shouldn't have to be that way.
And, I can afford to go to Tacoma or Everett in a pinch, but not everyone has the fare. Roundtrip is $7-$10.
They need more walk in locations in the neighborhoods. When I tried to schedule an appointment at a local QFC, I couldn't get through. I physically walked to the pharmacy. They had people there. They have the vaccine. But they couldn't give it to me. I had to call a national scheduling number and after 40 minutes, no one had answered.
It's just not as easily available as some people think. That's all.

(9,894 posts)work up any decent anger towards them. Maybe I could if the vaccine prevented transmission, but since it doesn't, I'll keep my anger focused on the other 50 things that enrage me each and every day. Which is not to say I don't wish they'd all get vaccinated, I just don't have the energy left to worry about whether someone else choses to put their life in danger.
LuckyCharms
(17,450 posts)then if enough people were to be vaccinated, the virus could be eradicated.
Additionally, I've read that vaccinated people who have subsequently been infected shed a lower viral load than those who have been infected and have not been vaccinated.
Finally, in my eyes, the real problems are as follows:
1) The incredible stress that the unvaccinated place on health care workers.
2) The strain the unvaccinated place on hospital resources. The 3 hospitals in my area have stopped doing "elective" surgeries.
3) Excess deaths (I believe that is how they are referred to). People are foregoing routine dental care and medical care due to this virus not being under control. The effects of this will be seen for decades.
4) The inability to "get back to normal" due to the unvaccinated.
5) The influence of misinformation that is spread by the unvaccinated.
The unvaccinated put us ALL in danger.
