Ten years ago, I'd have never pegged her as the conscience of today's Republican House of Representatives.

(10,273 posts)I know we all think shes screwed come election day, but if I were the republican party trying to run against her, I'd be damned scared of the quiet power that family wields as long as the old man hasnt kicked the bucket just yet.
Can practically promise hes digging up dirt on the insurrectionist caucus for when the time comes...

(153,170 posts)yes, she is a repuke and a Cheney, and she very much helped to bring about the monster that is Donald Fucking Trump. But she recognizes just how dangerous it would be to let the events of Jan 6 be overlooked. So, good on her.

They primaried him twice (once with big money) because he regularly told Meadows & Jordan to stay away from him.
Now, I agree with you that they are both far right Rs, so this last gasp of conscience may seem dubious.
But, I don't think these 2 were really card carrying members of the Freedumb Caucus.
IronLionZion
(45,474 posts)the point was they voted with Trump most of the time. The Freedom Caucus not so much.
The Freedom Caucus includes some actual Nazis.

(65,111 posts)We agree completely that they're still far right, so the consistent voting for anything an R president wanted is par for the course. Not at all surprising.
Kinzinger is my rep. I've talked with him. Personally, he's an ok guy. Politically he's all wrong about everything. He still believes in supply side economics, despite all the contradictory data.
But, he's not a frothing idiot.
He's going bye bye in our redistricting, but it looks like we could still end up with a R for a rep. If they drew that line 6 miles west...

(9,961 posts)... if she may be subconsciously balancing the other "Big Lie" - the one about Iraq that was probably her father's doing? I admire her strength. I admire her choice of an issue that will define her career. If it works, the Cheney name will be elevated. This includes her father... I like to think Liz and Nancy got together secretly and agreed, "Let's get this done correctly, for out country."
