The filibuster...

This recent thread was about gutting (or whatever you call it) the filibuster to accomplish Biden's agenda. I can comprehend it as the double edge sword but even if the Democrats wanted to abolish it, can it be done with 51 votes? And that's assuming they could get 50 Senators to vote.

If this isn't clear to everyone by now, I don't know what it will take

Better to focus on what we can do rather than raging about what we can't.

Manchin
Sinema
Tester
Warner
Shaheen
King
Coons
Feinstein
Shumer
even Mark Kelly was VERY evasive about it during the campaign last year.

And Biden opposes eliminating it as well.

NOTE: This is speculation - but it's pretty clear that more than just DU's terrible two oppose it. There have been enough random statements and no pressure from leadership to do it.

5. +1. There is a Washington Post article that lists 14 Dem Senators

who basically say they haven’t decided, are still thinking about it, or are open to consider it. I’m sure some of those would support elimination if it came down to it. But even if all 14 eventually support it, we’ll still be short by 2 votes.

at best you might get 50 for a single critical bill (voting rights maybe) but even that is a hard sell.

It seems like there is a good chance Repubs will control everything in 2024 where they could reverse everything we do and pass everything they want. Still a long time away, but the thought of it is scary.
