Apparently my clinic is already suggesting another shot in April 2022. I sort of figured this would be the case but was surprised to see it formalized.

(25,989 posts)Im good with either option - just as long as they are no longer serving as mobile Petri dishes for virulent and pestilential mutations of this virus.

Yea, I noticed the post I responded to was only their 2nd post here, ever. Just signed on a couple minutes earlier.
So much anger aimed at the wrong windmill. Sigh

(102,403 posts)three doses for immunocompromised was considered the original series and that a fourth dose six months after the third was recommended. That has not yet been formalized for others, but yes, it likely will.

(10,267 posts)I just saw my primary care doc a few days ago and he didnt mentioned this. Id just checked Mychart a day earlier to see some lab results and the note about Covid shots wasnt there at that time. I think the message was generated by the clinic not my doc, Im probably labeled as such. Thats ok by me, I got my first shot earlier than I would have otherwise.

(3,638 posts)Like the yearly flu jabs. I have been getting those for years and lately my doctor has me get a pneumonia shot.

(34,195 posts)"People aged 65 and over only need a single pneumococcal vaccination. This vaccine is not given annually like the flu jab.
If you have a long-term health condition you may only need a single, one-off pneumococcal vaccination, or a vaccination every 5 years, depending on your underlying health problem."

(4,554 posts)Pneumonia shots.
Couple years ago at 65, I went to my pharmacy and they suggested I skip to the 23 component one. Dont bother with the ?13?. Something like that.
So, I got the 23.
The RPh indicated that the CDC would be changing their recommendations at some point soon, saying that the first one want really needed. I am sure they have been too busy now with COVID to re-analyze the Pneumonia shot recommendations.
Im covered for Pneumonia, 3 shots of Moderna, and have gotten my 2021 Flu shot. Its all good.
