After a tumultuous week for Better.com which included a leaked Zoom layoff, mass executive departures, the resurfacing of wild allegations and internal leaks aplenty CEO Vishal Garg will be "taking time off effective immediately," according to an internal email obtained by Vice, TechCrunch and multiple other outlets.
The email, from Better.com's board of directors, was sent to employees as the company grapples with "the very regrettable events over the last week." The board announced that CFO Kevin Ryan will fill in for the time being, and that an "independent" firm will be conducting a "leadership and cultural assessment" in light of this week's events.
"The recommendations of this assessment will be taken into account to build a long-term sustainable and positive culture at Better," read the letter. "We have much work to do and we hope that everyone can refocus on our customers and support each other to continue to build a great company and a company we can be proud of."
Spokespeople for Better.com did not immediately respond to a request for comment from SFGATE. (Two executives responsible for managing PR for the company left earlier this week.)
