~WASHINGTON The chief justice of the United States, John Roberts, warned Friday that the Supreme Court risks losing its own authority if it allows the existence of a law like Texas near-total abortion ban, which attempts to circumvent the courts.
In a strongly worded opinion joined by the high courts three liberal justices, Roberts wrote that the "clear purpose and actual effect" of the Texas law was "to nullify this Courts rulings." That, he said, undermines the Constitution and the fundamental role of the Supreme Court and the court system as a whole.

about his legacy. He doesn't want to preside over a court that's supposed to be the law of the land but can be easily out maneuvered by scheming, racist, state pols.
Who needs a court with conservative justices to dense to see that they've about to be side-stepped and shown to be of no consequence.

Of course, they're Federalist Society picks, so that doesn't surprise me.

(3,635 posts)that only furthers the average voter's cynicism about democracy and justice in America.
Voting rights and women's rights/choice have been gutted in the past decade.
This country is not a RW country, as evidenced by the fact that Dems have won the popular vote in 7 of the past 8 presidential elections.
