Does anyone here actually know Ann Coulter?

Is she really as awful as she sounds? Or is it all an act for money?

She called Obama the retard. What is wrong with her. That is so offensive in so many ways. Just like most of what she spouts off.

I just find it hard to believe that it is not an act to get attention - money, money, money.

Who on earth would spend money to buy one of her books?

18. Her impeachment book - plagiarized and dishonest
Tue Oct 23, 2012, 11:10 AM
Oct 2012

I was reading books on impeachment and after reading Raoul Berger's book I read Coulter's. She lifted Berger's work whole cloth, mentioning him only in a minority of the cases she copied his analysis. In addition she was dishonest - in reviewing British impeachment rulings she claimed officials were impeached for minor sexual indiscretions, such as for insulting a lady. In that case the indictment did list insulting a lady, but also listed treason and taking bribes from a foreign country. Any fair review of the cases Coulter cited for her proposition - that getting a blow job was impeachable - would conclude that even in the few cases where affront to ladyhood were mentioned the real basis of the impeachment was always something far more serious - too drunk to be able to work, treason, bribery etc. After she published the book another conservative also claimed that in fact he had written much of the book and got no creditfrom her. She is dishonest.
I do assume she was unable to keep a job as a lawyer and then started making absurd horrible statements as a way to make money. Since she graduated from law school I am sure she knows most of what she says is dishonest.

I think it was in his apology book about his Anita Hill book. He wrote that he got swept up by the right wing attack machine in part because of the money. He wrote that Coulter is very different in private. As I recall, he didn't really say that she was liberal or anything, just not political in private.

I suppose that's why Maher liked her too. She's smart, very sexual. Never heard a woman say a kind word about her.

Ann Coulter Says Something Articulate And Meaningful Calls Obama A 'Retard'

(Image via Johnny Louis/WENN.)

Ann Coulter, the conservative crusader against anything slightly left of center in the political spectrum, has reached a new low by calling Barack Obama a "retard."

...

Charming as usual.

Rather than weigh in on the issues covered during the debate in any intellectual capacity, Ann would rather resort to a childish insult and a deplorable slur.

If this was a cry for attention, she got it.

Unfortunately for her, polls show the President easily won that debate with viewers, so she kinda looks like a, well, fill in the blank.

But normally the performer personality is based off of and more aggressive of the person performing it.

The company I work for did a major star's website - Let's call him X. In our meetings with him, he would refer to himself as X - as in, "X wouldn't do that, but X would do this." It wasn't an ego thing but a type of shorthand to refer to his public image otherwise things could get bogged down in things like, "Well, I think it's funny, but it's not something my performing side could say," etc. We were all impressed with his doing that, and we guess it's because he got an advertising degree in college.

This performer though is truly a nice guy, and his public persona reflects that. I have no problem believing Ann is a horrible person, and her public persona just lets that side of her come out.

Although, it would be funny as hell if she were really as, "The Boondocks," cartoon depicted her.

I shudder and shower each and every time I think of this.

Seriously.

I've actually thought about this over the years, and think she is mentally ill, as is Glen Beck. Rush is in it for the money and "fame," and some of the others are just pure sociopaths.

Her "retard" comment last night was just so offensive, and I don't mean to Obama. Lots of very conservative people have relatives who are differently-abled, and they don't like that term any more than I do.

A personality disorder is a type of mental illness in which you have trouble perceiving and relating to situations and to people — including yourself. There are many specific types of personality disorders.

Personality disorders are included as mental disorders on Axis II of the Diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association, and in the mental and behavioral disorders section of the ICD manual of the World Health Organization. Personality, defined psychologically, is the set of enduring behavioral and mental traits that distinguish human beings. Hence, personality disorders are defined by experiences and behaviors that differ from societal norms and expectations. Those diagnosed with a personality disorder may experience difficulties in cognition, emotiveness, interpersonal functioning or control of impulses. In general, personality disorders are diagnosed in 40-60 percent of psychiatric patients, making them the most frequent of all psychiatric diagnoses.

(Snip)

Because the theory and diagnosis of personality disorders stem from prevailing cultural expectations, their validity is contested by some experts on the basis of invariable subjectivity. They argue that the theory and diagnosis of personality disorders are based strictly on social, or even sociopolitical and economic considerations

but she really set herself a new low for offensive comments. Calling the president of the United States a retard? Really? What happened to all their respect for public office when Bush was "presidenting"? I talked with my big sister about it last night, and she expects AC to probably get a loss in sales for her books over her "retard" comments, since many people out there do have relatives with special needs.
In all honesty, though, I'm thinking that AC is only saying this stuff for the money. I'm sure she's probably well-educated and knows that her party's policies are horrendous for the working class. But she knows there are a ton of wingnut imbeciles out there who agree with what she says, and will still buy her stuff. She wants the success and influence of Rush Limbaugh, except when it comes to selling literature rather than doing talk radio.
