(11,773 posts)Town was basically also wiped off the map. I don't know what the final death total will be, but from the looks of those videos, it will be high. I've been through hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquake, a near fatal car accident, but the death toll will be way higher than what we had hurricanes Dennis and Wilma. I was in the Keys for both, and there was significant damage. The benefit was being in a tourist area and man, the government gets you up and running quick as possible. I didn't know anyone, including us, who didn't lose a car in Wilma, but those replacement cars were on there way quicker than any other aid. It was amazing. Also, Salvation Army was at our house before Red Cross. Of course neighbors are there first days before anyone.

(22,274 posts)Dawson Springs is on a small lake - Lake Beshear. Dawson Springs is former Governor Beshear's (Andy's father) home town
I just can't imagine what the lake looked like when this was plowing through.
