Why are people like Meadows and Bannon risking prison for drumpf?

Are they really going to let this contempt thing play out and possibly go to prison for durmpf? These guys are all filthy rich. They don't need money. What are they getting out of risking their own cushy lives for drumpf? From the texts released by the Jan 6 committee today, Meadows could walk into DOJ tomorrow and say "I wanted drumpf to stop this but he didn't. It's his fault that happened. Here's the proof. I'll testify, just don't send me to prison."

Then he walks out the door, back to his mansion and millions of dollars, and lives his cushy problem free life. Why in the WORLD is he risking all that????????????????

At this point they all fear his loyal cult members
Not just elected officials but all of them. They know what’s happened to school board members and the mother and daughter vote counters in Georgia. Getting primaried is one thing. The deplorable subhumans finding out where you live is a whole other thing.

The US cult is bad, but how many of these folks are on the Russian take? And if so, are they worried about accidently falling off a balcony?

I'll bet Putin would love to have his puppet reinstalled in the WH.

He was pardoned for the serious one.

He will get three weeks of jail.

He played his cards and he knew this would happen. He made his decision to go with a contempt charge rather than risk whatever....

1) Because they are both up to their eyeballs in un-American felony law breaking that should
put them into prison for most of the rest of their lives.

2) They are betting on the repugs getting back into power by any and all things necessary
and then letting them go.

These things can get dragged out in court for a long time. If it manages to drag on till the 2022 elections, and we lose the House (a real possibility), the committee will be kaput, and then they’re walking in clover.

Alternate theory: Trump has a lot of those Russian mafia connections. They don’t want the poison-tipped umbrella treatment.

He's not going to prison. He will go to jail for a few weeks if he is found guilty.

He will not be a convicted felon.
He can vote
He can own firearms

If found guilty, he will get be stuck in a bad summer camp for a few weeks.

TBH, if I was him, I would risk it too. He could have gone to prison and now he's gonna skate on contempt charges...whoopie...

Give him some street cred, especially with his insane followers, he is getting mountains of free publicity for this. Remember the maximum he can get is one year and a $1000 fine, more likely he’d get maybe 6 months or less or maybe even just the 30 day minimum at a cozy minimum security facility.

Bannon wants to be a martyr over this, he’s enjoying the attention. Not sure what Meadows is up to, maybe just betting the House falls back into Republican hands.
