Kroger to take away paid Covid benefits, add insurance surcharges for unvaccinated employees

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/14/kroger-to-eliminate-some-covid-19-benefits-for-unvaccinated-employees-wsj-reports-.html

Kroger is taking away paid leave for unvaccinated employees who get Covid-19 and requiring some of them to pay a monthly health insurance surcharge starting next year.

The new policies are intended to encourage staff to get the Covid vaccines, a company spokeswoman said.

The country’s largest supermarket operator will still provide paid leave to fully vaccinated employees who get breakthrough cases.

especially since don’t seem to care about whether or not their employees wear masks.

Needed to get car tags and had to go in. In the office area they have signs saying if vaccinated no masks needed. It made me feel like everyone looking at me thinks "there's another antivaxx person" I've had all 3 shots but still wear my masks. I don't want to get sick like back in Dec 2019 that lasted well into 2020.

I wear my mask and try to stay far away as possible, and I am constantly using my homemade alcohol wipes.

Working at a Santa's Village taking pics and other duties. So, heavy protection from the adults/kids. The money is too good to pass up!

Unionized employees are exempted from the new policy. I suspect that the vast majority of employees that one would interact with in the store are likely to fall into the exempt category

They are self insured, so, it raises questions about how much, vs. how expensive having them typoid marying.

I would like to see some figures about actuarily how much MONEY risk the unvaccinated pose.

Then I would like to tell us all how much we the vaccinated will pay for the cretins FREEDOM. We will pay their costs.

Kroger might have their own actuaries, but they could contract a consulting firm in under a week.
The root risk for this illness has been established in the actuarial world for over a year.
Among actuaries, it's widely shared information.
I'm surmising that Kroger has a statistical & financial basis for the surcharges.
