Did Trump Mislead His Own Accountants?

“As prosecutors in Manhattan weigh whether to charge Donald Trump with fraud, they have zeroed in on financial documents that he used to obtain loans and boast about his wealth,” the New York Times reports.

“The documents, compiled by Mr. Trump’s longtime accountants and known as annual statements of financial condition, could help answer a question at the heart of the long-running criminal investigation into the former president: Did he inflate the value of his assets to defraud his lenders?”

“If the prosecutors seek an indictment, the case’s outcome could hinge on whether they can use the documents to prove that a defining feature of Mr. Trump’s public persona — his penchant for hyperbole — was so extreme and intentional when dealing with his lenders that it crossed the line into fraud.”

which means the accounting firm must audit transactions to ensure the information provided is true. If they don't it is on them.

and using it for something else is a felony. Trump did that all the time. Don't know why he isn't already in jaikl.

And what did Martha Stewart do again to warrant her prosecution?

Trump is a lying sack, but he IS stupid. I can't imagine him knowing what his holdings are worth independent of his accountants. Might he exaggerate? Sure, but who would believe him?

Accountant: Hey Don, how much is the property at 826 Ocean Drive in Miami worth?
Don: Oh, about 600 million, trillion dollars.
Accountant: OK, that will help us a lot.

Don't think so.

8. So charge him at the worst level and them at the next level. They were *hired* to be misled.

And from my unsophisticated point of view, anybody competent and honest would figure things out sooner or later on their own. If they stayed there, they're guilty.

But as always, he's *more* guilty.

and ending with something despicable, illegal, immoral or stupid can safely be answered "Yes".

I'm sure this was all laid out for the Congressional hearing 2-3 years ago. He made it clear that Chump's organization kept 2 sets of books and documents. For sure Allen Weisselberg was in on everything, and the lawyers had to know also.
