(12,278 posts)even the Latinos? . ...
I mean even their history will not be taught. Shakes head, why would Latinos support this?
Many came from dictatorship countries.

(46,736 posts)Make no mistake that this fight against CRT is a racist maneuver. It will resonate with too many in Florida.

(22,264 posts)Unless they declare a different race (example: their heritage is mixed and they identify as African-American, Asian, or Indiginous)
I had this conversation a number of times when I was doing census polling.
Mexican/Latino is not a race; it is a cultural heritage or nationality. I would have to list the races and ask where they identified in that list. The categories are: White, Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. They would (with some surprise)declare "white"
Baitball Blogger
(46,736 posts)It forces you to answer "white," because the hispanic or latino option doesn't turn up until the question about culture.
Racism can capture the latino american culture, just like any other. Many are very proud of the fact that their European family roots never mixed with the indigenous cultures of the countries they settled in.
The ones that confuse me are the ones that have inter-mixed, and are still racist.

(11,738 posts)There are definitely people like Boebert, Greene, Gosar, and Roy, who are not very intelligent. Most Conservative leaders know that they are lying. They also know that their supporters are very ignorant, not very intelligent, and they WANT to be lied to.
Not one of DeSantis' supporters will actually even know what CRT is. They will not do any objective research into the Theory or where it is taught.
I would like to see the text of the bill. I am sure that CRT is mentioned, but the focus is actually any anti-racist curricula and the accurate teaching of US history that offends the White Supremacy of Florida's parents.

(13,556 posts)If we didn't have SCOTUS members who were bought and paid for this crap would have been thrown out a long time ago.
Now the gov. of California is talking about using it to punish gun owners and sellers. We'll see how that goes, but the repubs better be prepared for more of this back at 'em.

(2,249 posts)It's the new "poltically incorrect." They think they're cute by using it incessantly and saying it with dripping distain. It only has meaning in code on their side. Everyone else:
So, Florida's not teaching slavery in American History anymore??

(61,900 posts)Beyond that, reporting is vague about standards. The act also attacks school employee training. Some reporting also indicates that it also would affect workplaces in general.
DeSantis ranted how "race hustling" is a cottage industry.

(22,920 posts)I tried searching for the actual text to no avail. I keep seeing things like they're banning any discussion"that refers back to CRT" - so it sounds like basically anything that has the whiff of racial injustice will off limits. Not surprised but wondering just how overt they're going to be in the teaching of the glories of past, present and future white supremacy.

(4,616 posts)Since CRT is not now, has never been and will never be taught in public schools. How refreshing it would be if people would actually learn WHAT CRT ACTUALLY IS!

Get used to this. The gop is planning to make 2022 a referendum on CRT. it worked great for them in VA.

No, Ladies (using the term loosely).
It's called history.
