When it comes to holding the current version of whats passing for the Republican Party accountable, using their own words against them is always the most effective tactic. We may lament technology and blame it for the huge disconnect social media has actually created instead of bringing people closer (we can argue that another time), but sometimes its kind of the greatest thing ever, especially when it delivers a heaping serving of schadenfreude along with it. And the dominos are only beginning to fall.
Now that those Mark Meadows texts are out in the worldreally, did you enjoy how tasty those were?theres already been a whole lot of scrambling, backpedaling, and a few bodies tossed under buses, and its only been a couple of days since we found out. But then the House Select Committee went ahead and kept going with burning down the House and Senate GOP with a subpoena for a whole bunch of new phone records, and thankfully AT&T is down to comply.
Eleven House Republicans were named in the subpoena to AT&T, which requests the social media records along with texts and phone records. One of the members, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, has already admitted via his office to sending at least one text to Meadows on January 6th after the text was partially publicized by the House Select Committee.
The brand new information being shared by the Committee is the result of hundreds of hours interviewing hundreds of witnesses, so while people might have complained their silence meant they were doing nothing, it actually meant they were way too busy to tell us what was going on, plus they wanted to have something really valid and incriminating to share before going public.

(2,739 posts)Nearly one year ago, a mob attacked the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop lawmakers from certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election. Their actions were provoked by then-President Donald Trump and other Republican supporters who denied the election's legitimacy. Five people died during or directly following the riot, and and hundreds were injured.

As a consequence, a number of major companies and associated trade groups announced that they would halt political donations to the congressmen and senators who objected to Biden's election win, or said they would stop giving money to political candidates altogether.
In January, donations to these objectors from Fortune 500 companies and related trade groups was nearly $0, and in February it rose only slightly to $28,000 in total, according to a tracker created by nonpartisan watchdog group Accountable.us, a watchdog group.
But companies have quietly begun to ramp up their donations to election objectors once again, according to a new analysis by Accountable.us. Fortune 500 companies and industry groups donated more than $725,000 to members of Congress who opposed 2020 election results in October alone, bringing the 2021 total to more than $6.8 million.

Several corporations have followed through however, including Citi, JP Morgan-Chase, and even ATT (their employees anyway). Doesn't make up for their funding OANN though.

The House committee hearings will go on for months with more and more juicy revelations of republican complicity on Jan. 6.
The mid-terms may yet turn out well for us Dems once the traitors are exposed.

(15,124 posts)I don't know if they're smart enough or aware enough to fully understand that they are in jeopardy.
They are expecting to drag this out and delay until they take back the House next year. (Not gonna happen if we have anything to say about it.)
