"SNIP......
Kyrsten Sinema supports the elections reform bill that Democrats are considering a year-end push to pass. She doesnt support a shortcut around the filibuster to get it done, Politico reports.
The Arizona moderate is making clear that she intends to keep protecting the Senates 60-vote requirement on most legislation and she isnt ready to entertain changing rules to pass sweeping elections or voting legislation with a simple majority.
......SNIP"

Republicans do not care how badly their own behave. It won't matter at all. Not at all.

(1,609 posts)What has it been 6-7 years of Trump now? Nothing he has not has mattered. Their voters do not care what happened Jan 6th. For them. all is alright as long as they stick it to democrats.

The time to be fighting for this stuff was more than twenty years ago. Now its too late.

(53,922 posts)coming out of the House Jan. 6 committee may have a significant bearing on the mid-terms and '24. The committee just subpoenaed communication records of several wingers like Boebert, Greene, Jordan and others.

Sinema does not deserve a peaceful life in public places.

(3,635 posts)how so-called 'bipartisanship' and 'compromise' has historically come at the expense of the marginalized. Both political parties were united in maintaining slavery, Jim Crow, denying women's rights etc - which only changed due to movements (abolitionism, civil rights, women's rights) that forced the issue.

Except that I don't think she does agree. Allowing only a small number of people to vote benefits unpopular incumbents.

Her political career is over. Arizona Democrats despise this traitor.

(50,318 posts)wonder what went wrong. Why aren't they treating this with the urgency it demands? Once the GOP takes total control it's going to be nearly impossible to get equality again. And it goes without saying Herr Trump will be installed by his minions in 2024.
