I'm a little surprised he hasn't come to his daughter's defense. Or has he?

(7,638 posts)His creepy little black soul is definitely doing stuff behind the scenes.

(24,334 posts)He doesn't often work in the spotlight. I do notice that nobody has been messing with Liz lately. I'm sure a few people got phone calls. It may be why McCarthy is so quiet lately.

(28,343 posts)At least in public. You can only undermine their their confidence and strength by attempting to rescue them in public.

(89,278 posts)The way they deal with it is probably talking about it among themselves but they most likely know it's better not to make certain comments in public .

(24,656 posts)with the context of time. I disagreed pretty much 100% with policy decisions, but I stand with her on the Rule of Law. Credit her with her honest and brave stand against the DJT Group and their failed coup attempt. Lock them up.
Mr.Bill
(24,334 posts)But there's nothing wrong with advising or otherwise helping a family member.

(28,343 posts)In public at least, (which is exactly what the OP calls for) it would be patronizing and demeaning. Liz Cheney is ol' Dick's legacy, and he's not stupid.
Mr.Bill
(24,334 posts)but you are correct.

(7,970 posts)Well, at least in foreign policy (aka war crimes). I don't think he knows America-except Wyoming and Texas.

(43,049 posts)better off. Cheney don't stand for no fools he doesn't own.
And look at how he dealt with Mary. Very confusing.

He pretty much looks the same, his reptilian heart must keep him from aging.

(1,231 posts)I wasn't expecting it - walked out of a meeting off the Hill, so not a public space, and next thing I know, I'm heading out and there they are, and I'm opening the door before I quite realize it's them until I recognized his signature 10-gallon hat. I was shocked at how much they'd aged, but I suppose I shouldn't have been. So, one of those split-second thoughts: A) I hate everything you stand for and I want to scream, and B) I see two very elderly people and despite my personal feelings, just be gracious and hold the door.
I opted for B. He is who he is and hasn't changed, but felt my energies were better spent trying to deal with our current circumstances.

(5,128 posts)which one now, but it was PrimeTime. Liz was asked about her Dad. Liz responded that "oh yeah, we talk every day..... "
Darth Cheney is one man I would never want to be on the wrong side of.
Keep in mind he has been fighting the "crazies", ie, Stone, Flynn, Bannon.....etc for a very long time.
Sure, Liz can stand on her own, she's really impressed me in this battle. Look at her growing up years, who did she get to look up to and learn from? It is really nice to know "who's your daddy" in this "Game of Thrones".
In same interview she apologized for her early stance on gay rights and same-sex marriage and the pain inflicted on her sister.
