Two days before Christmas

That is when Donald Trump must make his appeal to the Supreme Court.

Does anyone expect the SC to take the case?

And if they do take the case, does anyone expect them to resolve it immediately?

These are political times and the DOJ may be waiting for the SC to make a ruling?

If the SC were to rule that there was no "executive privilege" for Trump in this case, it might free up the DOJ to move more expeditiously?

It seems to me that Mr Meadows and certain members of Congress would have much less room to maneuver, depending on how the SC rules?

The Select Committee would have more leverage in subpoenaing people, since the confederates would no longer have the excuse of "executive privilege" to claim. The only crutch they would have left would be the 5th Amendment. (One can only imagine how someone like Jim Jordan might react to a subpoena)

America needs a jury trial.

If the Supreme Court or jury trial cannot mend the damage that has been done to our democracy and our judicial system, then it is going to be a long walk home.

Americans should expect the process to move much more quickly after the first of the year. If the Supreme Court does not act, the DOJ must defend the rule of law.

From what I have seen it seems to be expected they will not take the case. Thomas Hurt Dec 2021 #1

But we do not know how politicized they have become?

It seems that it would free up the DOJ to be more aggressive, if that is their goal?

I think perfect timing so summer it all comes to conclusion and he’s finally arrested right before midterms. I hope they take it and find him not eligible for executive privilege.

That there is no "executive privilege" in this situation and that no one is above the law.

That is the prize that the Justice Department is fighting for.
