Liz Cheney is a hero. But she is doing what any decent human being should do in her position.

They gave their lives for us. That she is treated like a pariah by Republican lawmakers and the Republican propaganda machine, Fox News, shows how fascist Republicans have become. I was elected to borough council back in the 70's because I bucked the mafia-like family who wanted to strip coal on our pristine watershed. The townspeople showed up in record numbers at our council meeting. I didn't plan it but I ended up being the spokesperson. In a subsequent hearing which I wasn't a part of, one of my friends got in a heated argument with the Don of the family. After that hearing the Don went home had a heart attack and died. My friend got death threats, even had one of them recorded. The family had a group of people who showed up to every important council meeting we called them the goon squad, I sat with my back to them. I spent many sleepless nights wondering about my safety. We prevailed in the end but I got a taste of what kind of pressure there is in politics. I cannot imagine the pressure there is to do the right thing at the federal level.

Regarding Liz: I'm not ready to call her a "hero" - but I certainly do admire her conviction and determination. So many have compared the January 6 Insurrection with the events surrounding Watergate and Nixon. A MAJOR difference is that a group of REPUBLICANS went to see Nixon and tell him that he had to go.
