Liz Cheney is a hero. But she is doing what any decent human being should do in her position.

She is standing up for Americans who do not want to be ruled by an autocrat. You should expect any lawmaker to do that. People have died for the right to free and fair elections. They gave their lives for us. That she is treated like a pariah by Republican lawmakers and the Republican propaganda machine, Fox News, shows how fascist Republicans have become. How will Liz Cheney be remembered and how will Trump and the seditious Republicans be remembered? She will be a hero. They will be remembered as traitors who tried to steal America,

heroes? As you say they are doing what is right, which is what ALL the dems are doing. When you do the right thing on one issue but choose to continue to vote against the things that will make the country better, such as voting rights, funding to make the lives of millions of Americans better, you are no hero. Standing up for democracy and the constitution is the bare minimum.

She's saying that the violent suppression of democracy is a line she's not willing to cross, but she's all for the legislative suppression of democracy. I'm glad that she's on our side on this issue, but make no mistake, she is not a friend of democracy in general.

I was elected to borough council back in the 70's because I bucked the mafia-like family who wanted to strip coal on our pristine watershed. The townspeople showed up in record numbers at our council meeting. I didn't plan it but I ended up being the spokesperson. In a subsequent hearing which I wasn't a part of, one of my friends got in a heated argument with the Don of the family. After that hearing the Don went home had a heart attack and died. My friend got death threats, even had one of them recorded. The family had a group of people who showed up to every important council meeting we called them the goon squad, I sat with my back to them. I spent many sleepless nights wondering about my safety. We prevailed in the end but I got a taste of what kind of pressure there is in politics. I cannot imagine the pressure there is to do the right thing at the federal level.

Go get em Liz.

Regarding Liz: I'm not ready to call her a "hero" - but I certainly do admire her conviction and determination. So many have compared the January 6 Insurrection with the events surrounding Watergate and Nixon. A MAJOR difference is that a group of REPUBLICANS went to see Nixon and tell him that he had to go.

Today's RepubiQans are telling US where to go...... :

Seeking the truth should be the least we expect from our lawmakers and leaders. Instead of being commonplace, truth seeking has become something we celebrate as an unusual and rare thing.

It shows how much we have fallen as a nation. I hope someday the truth will be commonplace again.

2) She is fighting her own party, which is full of stark-raving lunatics and autocrats who want to destroy democracy. Not only is she taking a huge political risk, she’s taking a huge personal one as well.
