Stimulus-This, Tax credit-That, Blah blah blah...

Keep seeing headlines since six months ago that "you could have $ in your mailbox THIS WEEK"

CA had a surplus which was SUPPOSED to be handed out to help the rest of us...but no bueno, haven't seen shit.

Other countries have given help to their people MONTHLY since this shitstorm started. And yet we, here in the "best country in the world" are getting shafted and now are losing protections like eviction bans and student loan repayment.

I'm so sick of living like this, and regardless of how everyone is saying "There's PLENTY of jobs, but nobody wants to work cus of their govt check" - Employment isn't as easy as it once was for many. As I'm getting older and my autoimmune disease progresses it's more difficult to do the easiest things..add to that age discrimination and I've been out of work more than earning since 2018.

I started this rant about stimulus $
Anyone here know if we are actually gonna SEE any help before we drown?

I'm just frustrated these days...had to go back out on disability due to a compressed disk and flaring arthritis, but SDI says I havent earned enough in the 12 month period to get any benefits. I appealed and said "duh...COVID, nobody was working!" meanwhile I am looking for remote work but not getting ANY replies on apps. Feeling fucking useless and afraid.

Just like in the 70s after the oil embargo mangled the economy, they did not raise the minimum wage, they began using tax money to pay workers, good for employers, bad for workers of course. EITC is a scam to keep wages low.

Now instead of a minimum wage increase they are trying to sell a basic income for all. Of course we know that neither the wealthiest nor our corporations pay much in taxes so it is the people working who will support those who aren't or can't. Just like EITC. The general taxpayer is subsidizing the wages of the lowest paying employers, Walmart is the most famous, but all of big ag and the food processors do the same.

I don't know if SSI might be available to you.

Hoping something good works out for you soon, one way or another!

The guy was very nice and said not to feel bad and that this is what the SSA is here for. I have been feeling like such a loser because I couldn't just "Buck up" and Bounce back...every tinme Ive tried to go back to work it was just a matter of time before my body broke...now it's down to likie 2 months.

So hopefully it shall go easily

I had both SSD & SSI. Now retirement.

I was too scared to try and work again, have a big problem, then have to reapply.

I remember though thinking disparaging thoughts the first year or so when I'd travel around by bus around evening rush hour at working people.
Looking back it was probably my way at deflecting my own sense of "Loserness".

All the best. Keep us posted.
