ormer McDonalds CEO Steve Easterbrook agreed to pay the company $105 million over a messy termination lawsuit, the company announced Thursday.
Easterbrook was fired in November 2019 by the McDonalds board of directors after an investigation revealed the leader of the company was having an affair with an employee.
But Easterbrook was given a golden parachute on his way out the door, a severance package that eventually totaled $105 million.
The package was only available because Easterbrook convinced the board that the non-physical relationship that got him fired was his only violation of company policy.
Apparently, the companys eight-day initial investigation missed some things, because in July 2020 a tipster alerted McDonalds to more Easterbrook misconduct. McDonalds launched a more thorough investigation and discovered the CEO was actually having three physical sexual affairs with employees.
McDonalds then sued Easterbrook over the severance package and for lying about the extent of his misconduct. The settlement announced Thursday was the result of that suit.

(65,142 posts)Brennan & his gang of buffoons walked away with huge severance packages after driving the world's biggest retailer into the ditch.
They dropped catalog sales! They made their bones on getting millions of people to buy sight unseen.
They had a very early ISP already established. But, they ignored it.
They could have been Amazon before Bezos got his company off the ground, but instead they ruined the company.
Yet, they tried to convince a BKO judge that executive bonuses needed to be allowed or there would be too much talent flight. The "talent" that drove the company off a cliff.
Then, most still got huge separation packages.
This guy gets dinged for an affair but those idiots got rewarded for overseeing a monumental failure!
