(CNN)Trump administration officials made "deliberate efforts to undermine the nation's coronavirus response for political purposes," a House oversight committee led by Democrats said in a report released Friday.
The committee, which spent months working to interview former Trump officials, said the administration worked to undermine the public health response to the coronavirus pandemic by blocking officials from speaking publicly, watering down testing guidance and attempting to interfere with other public health guidance.
Many pieces of the report were a summation of documents and interviews they've released throughout the year, but the report also outlined new examples where health guidance was adapted despite officials' concerns about the potential harmful effects of the changes.
In one instance, Dr. Jay Butler, the deputy director for infectious diseases at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told the committee he was upset and concerned about guidance he was directed to update in May 2020 for faith communities. He said he feared that some of the altered guidance about masking and other church practices could potentially put lives at risk.

(1,654 posts)The government scientists, lawyers and other employees who fear that their jobs and even careers are in jeopardy. They may have decades invested and fear how they would support their families. He and his minions have put targets on the backs of so many already. Look at the venom with which many Republicans still speak of Dr. Fauci. They are relentless. They threaten jail. So many fear not just for their livelihoods but their lives.

(42,770 posts)Butler told the committee that while he wasn't aware of any examples where the guidance had adversely impacted the health of Americans, "that concern will haunt me for some time."
He wrote in an email about the change that he was "very troubled on this Sunday morning that there will be people who will get sick and perhaps die because of what we were forced to do."
"I was doing a lot of soul searching about whether or not I should have agreed to even make the change in the document," Butler told the committee when asked about his words. "Clearly, it was a
directive, but that was a real struggle as I felt like what had been done was not good public health practice."

(7,852 posts)so enamored with Trump and center stage she said he was "attentive to the scientific literature and details"..uh huh...and when loathsome Trump suggested a Clorox cocktail with an injected Lysol chaser as a maybe cure-all, did Deborah jump up and scream "Are you out of your fucking mind?!!", no, she grimaced and stayed silent..and then came the Scott Atlas herd immunity roundtable (Trump in attendance) but rather than join in the discussion (her conscience and all) she agreed to quietly go away as to not cause the orange cretin any embarrassment (the sonofabitch was systematically killing hundred of thousands of Americans and Debby was concerned her non-attendance might reflect badly on him??) ..so Jay Butler screws with the data and Birx face plants and slithers away...no dereliction of duty there...they want redemption...they ain't gonna get it!

I mean seriously! Threatening your school board, stalking them, terrorizing them....like your State Health Department, your Elections officials, and your Governor trying to keep you alive.
His rape victims have to go to the Supreme Court to get his DNA evidence, he drags litigation out for years to bankrupt them before they ever see a day in court. Andrew McCabe had to sue for his retirement having been fired a couple of hours away from twenty years, so hell no Rod Rosenstein didn't tell Mueller the FBI wasn't following the money, and Rod Rosenstein didn't tell the the third or fourth FBI director Mueller wasn't following it. Rod won't have to sue for his retirement.

If you want this pandemic to end, vote & vote dem.

(42,770 posts)then wait 2 days and lift mask mandates. So Abbott is guilty too of negligence.
What you say about lawsuits too... People can't sue because of covid negligence... Was vitally important to GOP... Yet THEY can sue over masks. What a fucked up evil twist that is.

(9,090 posts)christmas 2019 and they were all serious. there were others there. they need to be asked if limbaugh was being asked to call COVID a hoax, or if there were witnesses to other limbaugh trump conversations about COVID. because libaugh would not have called covid a hoax so long if tfg
intel knew COVID was serious by then and would have briefed tgf by then. did trump ask them or others about worst case scenarios and when he was told he might have to declare national emergency and delay elections if it got really bad.
in 2014 the october surprise was ebola. limbaugh and russian tool jerome corsi were yelling about it coming across the border with immigrants, it was obama's fault, and everyone needed to be very afraid. GOP got 9 new senators incl some of the current motherfuckers
in 2019 team limbo was starting to use the congo ebola scare and social media was being used in congo, maybe with rw radio, to get locals to attack clinics and make it worse - russians helping trump do it again?
they got that outbreak under control but along comes COVID. why not use disease again?tfgg is stupid enough to think they could use COID the same way
