The Atlantic's David Zweig's flawed understanding of epidemiology

This guy has been tweeting about how low risk it is for kids to get sick and die from Covid and now has a published piece in the Atlantic about it entitled, “The CDC’s flawed case for wearing masks in schools”

https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/12/mask-guidelines-cdc-walensky/621035/

This guy has written a pseudo-scientific review of available data from the CDC but fails the first test in writing a review: he carries a significant bias against masking in general and in schools

I work in an ED in NH and we are experiencing a surge the last 2 months unlike anything we have seen previously. The source of NH being #1 in Covid infections per capita? CHILDREN IN SCHOOLS ARE BRINGING IT HOME TO THEIR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS!! What David Zweig fails to understand is that MASKING IN SCHOOLS IS NOT ABOUT CONTROLLING INFECTIONS IN CHILDREN. It’s about stopping entire families from getting sick from the virus they are catching in schools, and in school systems where that’s not happening, their whole families are getting sick. I am taking care of patients who are dying precisely because the infection was brought home by their own child.

Thanks for your limited epidemiological mind and loud megaphone, David Zweig.

This. The good news is he is eminently forgettable, not a lot of talent there. (Nt) FreepFryer Dec 2021 #2

He knows full well what he is doing, he just does not care how many people he kills in order to try and pass off right wing lies as truth.

to post dangerous Covid misinfo and lies. There is one up now that claims 'only elites in big cities' still care about Covid and that most of the 'real America in flyover country' is back to normal.
