Joe Manchin blames WH 'staff' for his BBB obstruction

Sarah Reese Jones @PoliticusSarah 22m
Manchin seems a little nervous about his betrayal of POTUS

“They know the real reason, what happened. … It’s staff-driven. I understand it’s staff. It is not the president. “

Manchin Praises Himself For Not Giving in to "Pressure" from Dems on BBB Plan

_______________________________

“They figured surely to God we can move one person. We surely can badger and beat one person up. Surely we can get enough protestors to make that person uncomfortable enough that they’ll just say, ‘OK I’ll vote for anything,'” Manchin said during a radio interview with West Virginia MetroNews’ Hoppy Kercheval.

“Well, guess what? I’m from West Virginia. I’m not from where they’re from and they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive, period,” Manchin added.

Manchin did not blame President Joe Biden for the failed negotiations.

“They know the real reason, what happened. … It’s staff-driven. I understand it’s staff. It is not the president. This is staff. And they drove some things, and they put some things out, that were absolutely inexcusable. They know what it is,” Manchin said, though he would not elaborate on what these issues were.

They put basically everything Manchin wanted in the bill and they trimmed at all the places he asked. And he still said no.

What an infant. He screws his constituents--the third poorest population in the country--because he's butthurt? And he expects them to be okay with that?

Well, WV is 45th in education, so maybe his approach will work.

I wish he would disappear never to return again… wth is going on. He has hijacked the whole event for months now, really he and Sinema, and made it about himself. He played everyone for fools. It was foolish to believe anything he said. This is the sorry state of what passes for politics here.

Publicly, his biggest gripes are about the cost of the bill. But privately, Manchin has told his colleagues that he essentially doesn’t trust low-income people to spend government money wisely.

In recent months, Manchin has told several of his fellow Democrats that he thought parents would waste monthly child tax credit payments on drugs instead of providing for their children, according to two sources familiar with the senator’s comments.

Continuing the child tax credit for another year is a core part of the Build Back Better legislation that Democrats had hoped to pass by the end of the year. The policy has already cut child poverty by nearly 30%.

Manchin’s private comments shocked several senators, who saw it as an unfair assault on his own constituents and those struggling to raise children in poverty.

As much as the press ignore it, the establishment Liz Cheney wing is trying to take power from the Trumphumper wing. The party is actually very vulnerable and the Democrats can use that to their advantage

Joe Dictim Manchin had his staff call. He was not and is not a decent enough person to call Biden prior to stabbing Biden, Schumer, Pelosi, all Dems in the back.

He had no reason to announce prior to getting in touch with Biden/Schumer.

His latest excuse is just another lie. There was no pressure to announce. So he and his owners planned on fucking Biden over. Now he is trying to cover his ass.

If he planned on flipping he would have done his backstab and then flipped. He is now going back for one reason. To fuck with Biden and Dems again.
