(11,930 posts)I am so missing puppy love. I was thinking this morning that if I ran into Biden, Jill, and Commander in Rehoboth, I'd say "Hi" to the Bidens, introduce myself, then go right to asking if I could pet their pup

(2,042 posts)get another German Shepherd!!!
And here is a tip for the Bidens in case Commander loves to chase the ball, but will not give the ball up to be thrown again:
1. Get two identical fetch balls.
2. Throw one of them for your pup.
3. If your pup retrieves it, but then starts a game of "keep-away," show him or her the second ball.
4. That second ball will seem a hundred times more fun than the one he or she is holding, so that first one will be promptly spit out.
5. Repeat.
I didn't come up with this trick (probably an old trick, but new to me!) until after our German Shepherds had both passed and other furry kids came into our lives. Wish I had thought of it when they were still with us. Our GSDs were both masters at the game of keep-away!
