Voting Manchin Out

I don't know if this has been addressed elsewhere, but is anything being done about running a primary candidate against Joe Manchin and voting him out of office? He is a traitor to the Party and opposes something the majority of Americans support.

He is more like a Republican than a Democrat. These people have no problem funding a massive military but when it comes to supporting the working people and the Middle class, then there is no money. Build Back Better would improve the economy, unlike military spending.

There needs to be consequences for Manchin and his disloyalty. He needs to lose his seat. He needs to be voted out.

and the GOP controls the Senate. Unfortunately that's the case. He's from a Trump humping red state. It's HIGHLY unlikely that another Dem could win in WV.
As frustrating as it is, we're stuck with him.

Find a Democrat to run to his right, beat him in the primary, and win the general election. Because no Democrat to his left can ever win in WV.

And any other Democrat nominees will virtually ensure another R Senator as WV is a Trump +35 state.

What other Democrat could win in West Virginia??

There was a Senate race in West Virginia in 2020 that was on no one’s radar. Why? Because the Republican won in a 70-30 blowout. Manchin had a close race in 2018.

If he gets primaried out, we lose that race in a similar landslide.

WV voted for Orange Julius 2:1 over Joe.

Primarying him would probably just hand the Pubs a seat on a silver platter - and can't be done until 2024

For WV, our choice is between Manchin and someone like Sen. Cotton.

The mistake was expecting anything out of him other than getting Joe's cabinet confirmed and a few judges. Yes votes from him on anything should be viewed as a surprise and a bonus.

This is reality, expecting WV to vote for a real Democrat these days is pure fantasy.

...of the Mother Jones type. Unfortunately, those types were pretty much eradicated by the first Red Scare beginning in the 1920s. (Chris Hedges has written a couple of good books about such events, including Death of the Liberal Class). I really don't think things will turn around for states like WV without some sort of popular ferment. It really comes down to electing better people, because right now, Manchin is very popular with voters.

So if we can't vote Manchin out, is there any other way to hold his feet to the fire? He needs to be held accountable some way.

Take away his joy by keeping him out of the headlines. Find a retiring GOP Senator who will vote for the BBB bill.

Best wishes & good luck.

We've got better chances primarying an R in Blue State. Especially after we see how they vote on the sectioned off BBB Schumer's presenting after the 1st.

Forget Manchin. Unless he retires.

To get someone without accepting a right wing Democrat. For now he is useful because he keeps the Chamber in Dems hands.

However, the Dems CAN find someone. Not a run of the mill Liberal or even a moderate, but a populist that is generally more conservative on social issues (but still more centrist than a far righty), but far more progressive on economics.

In polling West Va residents OVERWHELMINGLY support BBB. Even Republicans in that state do. It's an odd state when you look at polling even though it looks like they are totally off their rocker fascist, I don't think they are. I honestly believe that state is dead red because of Jesus, the Flag, Guns and Gays. Those are the issues they are pretty right on, but I have a strong feeling that state IS open to a more progressive economic vision based on all the numbers I've seen.

I am NOT advocating abandoning our values of tolerance and inclusion just trying to think of a way we can get something positive from these dead red states and not just a Republican posing as a Democrat.

And if we can get politicians like this elected then the value of the Democratic Party will go up, we'll win much more in battleground areas, clean up n the blue areas and can then protect those social issues we care about by protecting the courts, give power back to the people and away from the corporations, and for god sakes do something, anything to protect our Democracy.

If the Reps win the house in 22 and 1600 IN 2024 I think this country is over. So the time bomb is ticking

The last time, we had majority, we had 53 Democrats in the Senate, so his leanings were irrelevant.

People complained about it, but there wasn't a mass effort to get rid of him.

The solution is to elect more Democrats to the senate
