"Responsible" gun owner shoots self in TJMaxx

https://www.pennlive.com/nation-world/2021/12/shopper-hurt-when-she-drops-gun-accidentally-shoots-herself-inside-alabama-store.html

A woman was injured when police say she dropped her gun and accidentally shot herself inside an Opelika, Alabama, store Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. at T.J. Maxx on Tiger Town Parkway, according to police.

Officers and medics arrived to find a 55-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. Investigators learned the woman accidentally dropped her gun, which caused it to discharge and strike her.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

She stupidly shot her stupid self in her stupid foot, and she’s too stupid to admit that she doesn’t know how to handle firearms.

Stupid woman.

She’d have to be carrying a gun that was malfunctioning or antiquated (an old single action revolver with the hammer resting on a loaded chamber, maybe).

It’s much more likely she negligently put her booger hooker on the bang switch and is too embarrassed to admit it.

I could see her dropping the gun and then getting flustered, picking it up quickly, and squeezing the trigger when she did so.

99.99% chance the headline is correct.

Although a responsible gun owner would carry a gun in such a way that it cannot fall out. If she "dropped" it, why was it in her hand?
