Diner Owner Who Defied Lockdown Dies of COVIDMichigan man John Parney was hospitalized for more than 2 months
A Michigan diner owner's long fight against COVID restrictions was followed by a long fight against the virus. John Parney, the 62-year-old owner of the Quincy Diner in Quincy, Branch County, died on Dec. 13, more than two months after he was first hospitalized, MLive reports.
In December last year, Parney reopened the diner for dine-in customers in defiance of state lockdown restrictions, saying his wife was suffering from stage four colon cancer and he couldn't afford to go without the income. He said he had lost too much money during the shutdown earlier in 2020 and was at risk of losing the restaurant, reports WILX.
Parney, a former Marine, is survived by his wife and three children. According to a GoFundMe fundraiser started by relatives, he was first hospitalized on Sept. 29 and released three days later, but was taken back to the hospital after two days when his symptoms "raged with a fierce vengeance."
"For those who will ask, no, John was not vaccinated from COVID-19," his relatives wrote. "However, during his battle, when he was able to talk, John shared with his family that he will be getting vaccinated because the battle, at that point, was worse than any training he endured in the military." The fundraiser has now raised almost $23,000 of its $25,000 goal.

Sucking the hospital dry for two whole months? Unforgivable.

(2,675 posts)But please let us know on your headstone how much he needed the vaccine.
Please listen to the professional public health officials like Fauci, they are not yapping at you for fun.

(2,286 posts)F him. F his whole damn family.
He put his employees and any dumb ass customer at risk.
Let them sell off everything at cents on the dollar to pay the humongous hospital bill. Not like he ever gave insurance to his employees.
May he and all his enablers suffer the consequences of their arrogant stupidity.
I am so sick of all these asshats begging for money.
F him. Rot in hell.

(7,530 posts)Didn't someone post that a 60 day stay in ICU for Covid with intubation ends up costing several million dollars without insurance?

(14,990 posts)This is the level of selfishness and stupidity we're dealing with... Forget protecting strangers, or neighbors, or customers, or even himself. He wouldn't protect his imperiled spouse!!!

(23,297 posts)They should put that on his tombstone. Just saw a tfg store at the mall yesterday. Big signs saying "Our governor is an idiot!" meaning Governor Whitmer and t---p 2020 banners. Bunch of stoops skulking around the place. No one buying anything.

(14,856 posts)It sickens me that his family had the gall to start a GoFundMe page, but they must've anticipated sympathy from their fellow fools.
