The UK just hit a record number of COVID cases in one day

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/23/uk-records-119789-new-covid-cases-in-one-day-its-highest-total-ever?CMP=fb_gu&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1640278479

The record 119,789 cases for the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday represents a 139% rise on the 50,023 new cases recorded two weeks ago and a 53% week-on-week increase. Wednesday was the first time the UK recorded more than 100,000 Covid cases, with Omicron the most transmissible variant so far.

Looks like the hoped-for peak after a few days of holding around 90,000 didn't materialize

for all the increase. I could only find the positivity rate, which is supposed to be meaningful, through yesterday.
It has crept up slightly but yesterday was still under 6 percent. Of course the increases are nothing like the doubling every two days, 1000000 cases a day by year end predictions. Over 7 days I think it's gone from 90000 a day to 120000 a day.
Good data and hope is the best way to live.

I checked on CT. The positivity rate is 9 percent. I don't know the significance of that figure but mavens always.point to it.
