Forget Donald Trump and January 6th! The REAL opponent in 2022 is apathy

People are tired tired TIRED of hearing about Donald Trump and the insurrection.

It is a shame, because he is an existential threat, albeit a diminishing one, and I would hope that people would care more. But the bulk of people, particularly non-political people, have or are rapidly tuning out.

What people DO care about is the TONE of the country. The arguing and divisiveness and particularly the name calling. Some people seem to think the only way to react to the GOP obnoxious frat boy tactics is to give it back as good as they get.

We will never beat them playing their game by their rules.

Democrats need to be strong, not petty. Rather than try to match the low rhetoric, focus on hope and restoration while making sure to point out the toxic nature of each individual candidate as opposed to "Hey look! Trump!" because that technique has already been proven a loser in Virginia.

From what I see and hear from friends, family, and co-workers is they are sick of it all. The votes gained by stopping voter suppression, while important, will not make up the difference.

Yes, that IS an important fight. It's not the ONLY fight.

And I stand by my position. We don't win by being more rude than trumpists. Because we can't. They have the advantage of rudeness being a focal point of their character.

Perhaps I am being a bit too optimistic?

In any case, running against Donald Trump in 435 congressional races is a net loser. We need to focus on getting the best candidates in EVERY race, no matter how hopeless, and focus on building a stronger, friendlier, more united America. Push the concepts of personal charity to fight back against "the government will fix it all" (sorry, but that is a losing strategy). Democrats need to be the adults in the room.

Then FOX et al decided to ignore him

He lost the election, and now that the bIg LiE flurry has died down he's seen as nothing but a loser - the one thing his ardent supporters of four years simply can't tolerate. They won't attach themselves to a loser, they just won't.

and every other lunatic Republican daily who offer nothing to move the country forward and MANY of them should be in prison and MANY others should have been forced to resign from office. We know none of that will happen. That's what I'm tired of. Apathy indeed.

Their #1 issue is the economy, specifically inflation/rising prices. That issue alone is going to swing 2022, 1/6 is way down on the list (or not even on their list).
