This Should Be A Training Video For Police

With all the anti-police sentiment I’m detecting in some quarters I decided to spend the morning watching YouTube videos of good cops. After all there are over 697,000 peace officers in America, all of them aren’t bad. I found this video from 2018 that really moved me.

I’m not sure why the driver was stopped in the first place, but it turns out his license was suspended, and there were drugs in the car, but there is so much more going on. The guy was on his way home from work, to earn money to get his license back. It was his brothers car. He didn’t try to hide the bag of weed in the open (one officer says later that he was waiting for him to hide it). The driver was very polite and honest and the officers were too. He was in a program to get his life together and the officers were familiar with it.

The officers ended up having to arrest him… but they didn’t have a choice. But they didn’t charge him with the drugs, went out of their way to help him when they could’ve just arrested him and dragged him to jail. The officers set it up so he could get bonded out, go to work the next day, get on with his life.

I wish it could always be like this. I ended up feeling sorry for the driver in the end and was impressed by the officers. The YouTube comments are also very supportive of both the drivers efforts to restore his life and the officers humanity.

There are many other YouTube videos like this out there. There are bad apples in any profession… there are also good ones.

I wish it was this way 99.9% of the time. Cops should have same expectations as airline pilots uponit7771 Dec 2021 #5

had his life saved by an alert state cop.

My friend was a truck driver who worked short hauls for a company. That way, he could be home with his family. He had been a cross country truck driver when he was younger, and he hated it.

He got back to his company's headquarters and parking lot late on a Friday. It was raining and snowing on and off, and he had to be careful.

When he started to get out of his truck, his feet got tangled in something. He fell heavily on the pavement.

There was no one in the office or in the lot. No one would be back until Monday. He had a broken hip, and he could not get up. He went in and out of consciousness for several hours.

The state cop was driving on the tollway. He noticed the dome light in the truck. He thought someone was breaking into vehicles there. When he got there, the cop found my friend. He got medical help for him.

My friend was hospitalized for a long time. He had significant physical damage, and went through a lot of therapy. He lost a lot of weight, too. He was always grateful to that cop.

I saw another one on Youtube not that long ago. The cops received a call about a guy outside a business who'd flashed a gun. When they arrived, they located the person in question based on the description the caller gave. He had a hand in his pocket and refused to show his hands. The first officer on scene drew down on him but didn't fire, and eventually talked the guy down and got him cuffed up.

Turned out the guy was suicidal and had called the cops on himself. He wanted them to kill him. His manner broke my heart when watching the video. He was utterly despondent, and kept asking the cops to kill him. Their kindness towards him was deeply moving.

And before someone jumps in with a comment... the gentleman in question was African-American.
