Amid the Great Resignation, most companies planning higher bonuses
More than three-quarters of companies plan to offer year-end bonuses to employees, according to a survey by human resource consulting firm Robert Half International Inc.
About 77% of 2,150 companies plan on offering bonuses at the end of 2021, and nearly 61% of companies say those bonuses will be higher than their 2020 bonuses, according to the survey.
Josh Howarth, district president at Robert Half, said they were seeing a significant number of companies rewarding employees for their hard work over the past year with bonuses and salary increases.
Bonuses and raises can be powerful ways to bolster retention and recruitment efforts, which is especially important today, as organizations continue to navigate the impact of the pandemic on their teams and business, Howarth said in an email. Managers recognize that by not offering employees financial rewards for their dedication, they risk losing valued staff to other opportunities especially in the current climate with record-high job openings and voluntary quits.
