My niece went hiking with a friend yesterday. While in the car the friend got a call that her brother had tested positive. If the brother is positive, potentially the sister was, in which case she could have infected my niece whos coming with her family to Christmas Dinner here with 10 others, including someone whos asthmatic and would likely need to be hospitalized if infected.

And - my 90-in-2-weeks mother got a call last night that she was exposed on Wednesday.
Everyone masked in the relatively large physical therapy room. Mom is boostered. So we should be OK. But for reasons of privacy, they won't tell her whether it was a fellow resident of the nursing home (farther away from mom) or a physical therapist - who could be very close.
This crap sucks.
Unfortunatey, you need to tell your niece to stay home.

(3,165 posts)I had to get tested yesterday due to a scheduled minor procedure for Monday and was negative. He woke up after I got back saying his throat hurt. Got a rapid and PCR done that afternoon, rapid came back positive. We're assuming he got it at school, specifically while in band.

But I can't help but think of how far we have come since the beginning. Two years ago, this could very likely have been a death sentence. Today, the chances of dying are a tiny fraction of what they were.
I'm so glad all of you, who I love to talk to and agree with and disagree with, are vaccinated.
