So do I have this correct? A number of politicians, and would-be pols, are posting

pictures of their "christmas" cards showing them and their families with assault weapons? From what I vaguely remember from catechism, this holiday celebrates the birth of a being, one of whose titles was "prince of peace". Pretty sure that does not mean being armed with things designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible ( also vaguely remember something about "thou shalt NOT kill". I could be misremembering.), and claiming to be doing it in that entity's name. Personally, if I were that entity, I would be a trifle miffed.

Am I missing some logical connection here? Was some new version of that story recently discovered? A new rosetta stone? Or are they all just lying, pandering hypocrites who think all the rest of us are stupid?

The Bible is like a rorschach chart, the evangelicals and the fascists both prefer the old testament with all it's violence, trickery and getting over and totally skip the huge amount of ethics in either old or new testaments.

I saw a report where most of the Jan 06 mob are from specific precincts where diversity is increasing and these nitwits are freaking out.

"Thou shalt not kill" was one of the top ones. It didn't specify exceptions, that's all it said and was very straightforward.

Thou shalt not kill is interpreted to include not doing any type of bodily harm to anyone. Spreading disease would come under that prohibition.

Thou shalt not steal is interpreted to include any type of dishonesty, i.e. lying, dissembling, and deceitfulness.

techno dictatorship.

I fail to see why so many Americans cannot see the long wave end game these usurpers are desirous of.

Even more deluded are the rubes who think that the Rethug Party will someone be reformed and simply go back to just a 'normal' level of shitbaggery if only those damned 'bad apples' can be booted out.

History doesn't work like that, and the US is so not immune to history, dispute all the ridiculous American Exceptionalism bollocks that so many chose to slurp down.

Not only have I seen it many times over the years, but we put on the play at school (and brought it to other nearby schools - same school where we were required to memorize The 10 Commandments) and I was Charlie Brown! It was an all girls' school.

Syncretism. The melding of elements of different belief systems.

Religious conservatives tend to sneer at this as a "pick one from column A, pick one from column B" affair, but, predictably, don't recognize when they do it themselves.

They make their brand of Christianity central to their self-identity, but can't bear to think that other favored beliefs at be in conflict. So they blend it all together so much that there is no conflict unless you view it from the outside.

Christianity at odds with Capitalism? With Patriotism? Nonsense! Here's Jingo Supply Side Jesus! Check out his guns! And that big, sweet house he has! Wouldn't want anyone to treat him like a leper, after all.

He was on the verge of a conniption over this. Rev. Sharpton was one of his guests. Needless to say, Rev. Al was not pleased, either. Both said their very Christian parents would all be horrified, as everyone should be.

Yes, they are all lying, pandering hypocrites who think everyone else is stupid. That goes without saying.
