Alleged 'dead' Georgia voters found alive and well after 2020 election

False claims that there were thousands of ballots cast in the names of dead Georgia voters can now rest in peace.

Election investigators found just four absentee ballots in the 2020 presidential election from voters who had died, all of them returned by relatives.

The State Election Board referred the cases to the attorney general’s office this month after investigators reviewed dozens of allegations. Almost all voters were found to be alive.

The tiny number of ballots actually cast on behalf of deceased voters contrasts with then-President Donald Trump’s false accusation that there were 5,000 dead voters in Georgia’s election.

Every time the news starts in about such and such organization finding falsified and/or improper voting, it is rethugs that are doing it. I do know this. If any of DU knows any poll workers, please let them know you have their back should these animals start their harassment campaign on any of them. And, I can tell you this. IF I lived next door to a poll worker or embattled school board member, and those rodents showed up, it would not be pretty.

6. Half a story here

At least one of the four votes was cast in favor of Trump. How about the other three? The only way to fight back against Trump's (and the right wing's) lies is to rub their faces in the facts. The vast difference between 5000 and 4 is one such fact. Who the cheaters voted for is the other.

We need to know (in my best Paul Harvey voice) the rest of the story.

Their claim was 5,000 dead voters, and it's a false claim.

Our claim is that voter fraud does not exist on a level to affect election outcomes, and that's a verified claim (verified many times over, in fact).

Anyway, you can't prove who anyone votes for. You can assume based on party registration, but that's about it.

10. It confuses me

The repubs pushed and scrapped for Voter ID in GA, why did they also try to blow the whistle on this? The championed the security measure that in fact made their claim false.

I don't know whether to congratulate them or criticize them...

11. If someone dies AFTER they complete their absentee ballot...

... but before it's mailed. It's that illegal?

There's a special election in our county and we've both filled in our ballots, but I haven't mailed them yet. If my husband died today would it be illegal for me to pop his ballot in the mail tomorrow? (He did personally fill it in and properly sign and date the envelope.)
