How can you tell if a sideeffect is the result of Covid or the vaccination?

Six weeks after receiving the Pfizer booster I began to experience dry mouth symptoms. It began at night, but it progressively became an issue during the day, when eating spicy food became uncomfortable.

I looked it up and it's called xerostomia and it affects 43% of Covid patients. Except, I've never had Covid. Never had a symptom that sent me to the doc for a test. The most likely explanation is that it's a sideeffect of the booster. For me, the effects of the booster was worse than the first two shots. I had a really bad headache and was achy, I couldn't eat for a day, but all the symptoms were gone by the third day.

Anyone else who has had a Pfizer booster have a similar reaction?

I’ve also had Covid.

But it was an awful side effect. Not sure I’ll take another booster, if it comes to that.

and it can have lots of causes. I suffer from it once and a while, too, but it usually has to do with my diabetes.

like a minor rash inside mouth and/or swelling and soreness on tongue, I've had it since end of September--at the same time I also suspected I might have had Covid: runny nose, sneezing, diminished taste/smell--but never really felt sick or feverish or coughing. I wrote it off as allergies. Now you have me wondering. I'd never suffered from dry mouth before, it came on suddenly and is still bothering me months later. Edit to add: also considered diabetes, sjogrens, thrush, etc. but haven't gone for a checkup yet, it's finally starting to get better.

to prove it now. Should have gotten tested when I had the symptoms but I just never felt bad enough to worry about it. I got the booster a few weeks ago and my dry mouth is improved somewhat, so the vaccine didn't seem to matter.
