President Obama says when Harry Reid was nearing the end, his wife Linda asked some to share letters that she could read to him. In lieu of a statement, Obama shares his letter to Reid:

Which only the Republicans have ever benefited from. Well. And those Senators that really don't like doing their job. Because who wants to filibuster (ie, take to the floor and give a speech) when all you need to do is say you're doing it?

Obama is a class act for treating Reid's majority with grace, but it hampered his years in office insurmountably.
