A month ago a DUer asked for donation through GoFundMe
Seems they are still short of $500 and the original post is already in the archives, cannot be kicked, I think, so perhaps some here can help

(29,219 posts)and I thought the challenge was way over the stated goal of $7000. My contribution took it to $9000.
What happened?
The goal changed from $7,000 to $10,000.

$9,501 raised of $10,000 goal
I don't mind them changing the goal and finding a better van, but they should have set the goal high enough in the beginning.

(15,806 posts)As it happens, they were contacted by someone who'd been down a similar road and suggested some disability options they hadn't been aware of; those additions aren't frills, they will help with accessibility and operation of the van. Per their friend who set up the gofundme account for them, the original goal was based on discussion with a dealer who quoted them a price for a van (basic, not yet customized) he had available; they went with that to get the ball rolling, so to speak. I hope this helps to clarify any questions you may have. And, again, thank you so much for helping!

(29,219 posts)wheelchair accessible van...
If, by Tuesday next week, they aren't over the $10K (they are only $499 away right now), I will make a second donation to put them at $10K.
I've looked around online, and while there are some options for already wheelchair accessible used vans in the "under 10K" range, there are not like tons of them... and most are older high mileage vehicles.
Let's make sure that $10K is enough to get a vehicle that will last the years without a lot of upkeep and will do the job.

(15,806 posts)I just saw your post reccing my original OP, can't thank you enough! I spoke with my brother and his wife on Christmas, they are both profoundly touched by all the generosity. They're almost there, and your thoughtfulness in kicking this again adds another layer of gratitude. Your kindness is helping to ward off the temptations to cynicism. I'll say it again, THANK YOU!
